Sweet as Sin (Bad Habit Book 1)

Forced connection, unnecessary drama
I wanted to like this more than I did. It all sounded good; the author comes highly recommended, and I like rockstar romance, so I dove in with high expectations. This was the first book of hers that I have read so I will give her more chances, but this one fell flat. The love-at-first-sight thing doesn’t really work for me, and this book was no different. If done right, it can work, but this felt forced and superficial. Not only that, but the FMC has a lot of triggers and things that she avoids in men due to past relationships (abandonment issues, especially by musicians; aggression; possessiveness) but she ignores them ALL even though Nico shows all of those characteristics, and she lets him know that she is hesitant to be with him and is LOOKING for reasons to stay.“’I’ve had twelve lovers in my life…Two of them were complete psychos, three of them had mommy issues, four of them were just immature. The other three either cheated on me or roughed me up. One of them did both, and loved every minute of it…I don’t like aggression. I don’t really like possessiveness, either, but at least that shows you care. But the anger?...That worries me, Nico. All your secrets worry me, too. But I’m standing here, telling you this, because I care. I’m looking for reasons to stay. Don’t give me any more to walk away.”Ok honey. You shouldn’t feel like you need to LOOK for reasons to stay. All of those red flags that make you feel unsafe or insecure? Take them and RUN. Nico’s aggression and possessiveness concern ME and I love to read about that in book boyfriends. I loved Kat as a character (she is sweet, caring, selfless, and her friends are just as cool and all of them together are so fun), but when it comes to Nico (and seemingly men in general), she starts out strong but then ends up giving in for no good reason. I LOVED her first interaction with him, when she stood up for Avery, but once he made it clear he was into Kat, she forgets all about her triggers and healthy boundaries.Oh and whenever they are JUST about to have an actual conversation and share their pasts and truths (you know, issues that would be IMPORTANT to tell the person you are entering into a relationship with), something conveniently interrupts them or they end up making out or jumping in bed together. Nico is right that trust is important in a relationship, but he just demands it up front, without earning it or showing that he can be trusted. He is a rockstar with a rep, one that he doesn’t outright tell Kat the truth of before demanding her blind trust. They don’t have much of a conversation before that, in fact. It all felt very forced.“’I only have two secrets, Kat. One that could ruin my life, and one that could ruin someone else’s. If you want me to, I’ll tell you both.’”The answer, class, is “YES, I DO WANT YOU TO…WE WERE JUST IN BED TOGETHER AND THEN YOUR OVER-THE-TOP AGGRESSION HAD ME ALMOST RUNNING FOR THE HILLS…GIVE ME A GOOD REASON TO STAY, PLEASE.”But no. Homegirl just makes out with him some more and asks about his back tattoo. There is an epilogue in which we get to see the MC’s one year after they met, preparing for their wedding. The maid of honor and best man get into yet another weirdly random and heated argument which I am assuming is the lead-in to the next book. All in all, I was underwhelmed by the couple’s story and my favorite part of the book was the witty banter between the girl friends.

One word...Intense
This book had me on the edge of my seat! I kept thinking that I knew what was going to happen, but I was very wrong, every time. Loved this one! Off to read book number two now.

👍
I was hooked right out of the gate! I loved how the relationship between Avery and Nico developed. I found it engaging, romantic, tumultuous, and raw. The twists and turns had me on edge. So good! ❤️📖❤️

My first J.T. Geissinger book
This was my first J.T. Geissinger book. And also my first rock star/musician romance. If you love possessive men and touch her and D** type books you’ll enjoy this one.I always suggest checking trigger warnings. Parts of this one for pretty dark.Overall loved it. And will continue to read this series!

Over the Top
Anxious attachment style (Nico) meet Avoidant attachment style (Kat); now go have fun, kids.If you like insta-love, rock star swagger, dark and lurid secrets, and an over-the-top dude who pushes for the relationship more than the girl, then this one is for you. Personally I thought Nico was too possessive, too aggressive, and too tone-deaf (lol, pun) to know you can't TELL a girl what she's feeling, you have to ASK her - but that's why he's Kat's boyfriend and not mine. 🤪I like this author, and overall I'm pleased with the story because it had her usual elements: great chemistry, emotional development, steamy build-up and great dirty talk during the business. I definitely feel like her writing improves with each book, so I'm always looking forward to what's next. Hope you will, too.

SERIES REVIEW
Oh my, I was truly not expecting the twists that came with these stories.I love the friendship between Kat, Chloe and Grace. That was probably the biggest positive for me throughout it all. I enjoyed getting to understand Nico, AJ and Brody's characters throughout their individual books and that they were more than just the brooding rockstars that they were easily portrayed as. The side characters were all very entertaining, as well. There was quite a lot of slut shaming. I could understand it at first but after Make Me Sin, it seemed unnecessary. I was hoping there would be character development from it but doesn't seem like there was at all.

Team Grace
I loved the book but I'm still really unsure how to feel about Nico. I had just so many problems with him I can't even. Grace on the other hand may be my favourite person to ever appear in a book. I want a "Team Grace" sweatshirt and phone case to show my support of her awesomeness. Without explicit spoilers, at around the 90% mark I think my heart stopped for a second and my mouth hung open for a full minute as I tried to process what I was reading. This is my first book by this author but I think I'll definitely be reading the rest of their work, I'm not even a romance person at all. Things like ott romantic gestures and love at first sight are just not typically things that I enjoy but this was so well written with such an interesting back story to each of the characters that it just hooked me.

Sweet as Sin. Book. 1 .
Single point of view . This is why I cannot give a correct review . I cannot read books that are in a single point of view . I get a headache reading them . I have tried a few . So for th oh s one . I did first six chapters then skipped a few . Read a bit more and skipped again like that to the end . So I guess the story was good but not for me sorry . But plenty of other reviews to give you a good idea about the book . Guarantee reason for the 4 Stars . I cannot in all honesty not give stars for my own preferences .

Amazing new series!
JT outdid herself with this book! It was so good, truly amazing! I loved the story and the characters. The book takes the reader on a bit of a rollercoaster considering Nico's past trauma's and Kats on top of the ordeal they face in the book.I teared up more then once reading this but I also smiled a lot at the banter between Nico and Kat and between their respective friends! The chemistry and connection they had was extremely strong, if ever there was case for love at first sight, it's these two, while Kat wasn't going to enter straight into a relationship with Nico giving the situation when they first met, there was no denying the instant connection and spark between them when they first set eyes on each other.Their relationship only grew stronger the more time they spent together cause whatever Nico's faults (he has a temper) he is always honest with Kat and keeps his promises to her, which is important to Kat considering her past. They were good for each other and I was routing for them all the way! They had some really tough moments in the book which I won't go into as I believe it will be far more powerful to experience them for yourselves, but I will say they came out at the end, maybe not unscarred, but certainly stronger.I can't wait for the rest of the books in the series. Honestly, this book was amazing and gripped me from start to finish. JT has the start of a truly great new series in this book! I'd highly recommend it!

Like It
A lot. Not all of it. Have a couple of reservations, mostly the bad language. I know it is about young men from a disadvantaged background who have become rock stars, I did anticipate some bad language just not quite as much. Still worth reading.

Ticks all the boxes
I am new to this author and this is the first book of hers that I have read. It is also the first book I've read in a while that I really enjoyed.Loved her characterisations and thought it had a good, strong background story to support the sheer off the scale chemistry going on between the two main protagonists.I love a good, bossy Alpha and the passion sizzled.I also love a strong, independent, free thinking heroine and Kat was fabulous.Totally escapism. Loved it.
