Asure Id Solo 2009

This company went well above my expectations. I had to deal with the Asure ID people to get me set up, they were great. We did have to spend many hours on the phone as I was the first user on a newer operating system but WALA! we are up and running because of their tech support.

Assure ID 7 is Absolute garbage! There is NOTHING intuitive about this software; I've set up dozens of computers and fairly well-designed software packages, including Adobe CS series, multiple Microsoft and Intuit programs.... never before have I had to call tech support within the first five minutes just to open the program! Once in, as others have stated, the user guide is all but worthless... steps and icons it references are nowhere to be found on your screen. I would avoid this software like the plague, and opt for a more mature, better designed product.

Not complicated, easy to use, and when it works its good. Good for companies/school/etc of most sizes.Downside: If you are only using one (1) computer, the license key will only work once.If the computer it is installed on crashes or you re-install it you have to get a new license key, or at least that what happened to me/company I work for. The only way to get a new license key is by buying the product again. This may no longer be the case but it was for me/company I work for.Lost all the templates for ID's, that sucked. I.T. was unable to recover them. HID Global was not helpful and the vendor it was initially purchased from was not helpful either.Again this may have been an isolated incident, I'm still a bit salty about it, or they may have changed a policy or something with the licensing key. Just giving a heads up that you may have to pay/upgrade your licensing for Asure ID when you upgrade computer or the device that the license key was used on makes an oopsy/dies.

Good product, arrived in time.

This program makes very nice ID cards when paired with a good card printer. It is fairly easy to learn, well supported with updates, installs without any problems, but has one negative issue which can be overcome. The online manual, or help system is poorly written and very difficult to find answers to questions on the program's use. It is fairly easy to learn without a great deal of help, but it has taken almost a year to unearth some features, and quite by accident at that. The second minor flaw is the ability to have the software direct the files it created to another location. I have an external hard drive pair set up in a raid array, thereby protecting my data and investment against loss.The major flaw I find with this software is the excessive copyright protection system employed. The system installs in a trial mode, which by the way, prints out only with the word "trial" printed numerous times across the card. I can understand this, but when the owner of the software goes to keep the software in a usable form by entering the serial code, the software warns that it can only be installed on that one hard drive in that one computer. That is all well and good until that one computer's motherboard fries (known HP defect) and takes with it the hard drive completely.Re-installing the software and using the serial code generates an error stating that the software can not be reinstalled. I have effectively been robbed of the copyrighted software I purchased in good faith. I am hoping that HID software company will come up with a solution to these issues in future releases, and a solution to allow the re-installation of the program.04/16/2014 Update. HID software was able to reset my security to allow the re-installation of the software. At least I have the functionality back, and I will be sure to make a backup of my hard drive. I am still not able to specify a destination for my files, a feature that should be available in any software package, in my opinion. Using the trial version first, then the registered one, revealed another minor annoyance. I am not able to batch print, a feature available during the trial, but must print each card individually. I am changing my overall rating from a 2 to a 3.

Works great very user friendly!!Glad I purchased and would definitely buy more if I needed more. I recommend this to anyone needing similar software.
