very delicate unit. Son used it for school project. Worked at home but in school it didn't work - he hand carried it very gently so it wasn't damaged during transportation.

Product did not work - recipient was, if anything, over-qualified to assemble but it didn't work one second. What a bust!

Should you really use this as a metronome for music lessons? Probably not. Does it demonstrate the principle in a DIY electronics kit? Absolutely. I'm a big fan of Velleman kits and this, while not their best, did not disappoint. There is an on/off switch and three controls: "sound" (which did nothing), "beats" and "volume" (which worked as expected). The little speaker was difficult to install but all else was easy. It can output a slow rhythm of 1 beat every 3 sec up to 3 beats/sec. So, there are some design/assembly issues but it worked great for me
