3-1/2" White Roman Clock Insert

This insert looks great and keeps good time. It calls for a 3" diameter hole, and I found that to be a little tight. I opened the hole up to 3-1/16" and found it much easier to insert, and there is still plenty of grip. But be careful. There is not much room to play. I also found that, when inserting, if you put the Roman numeral "XII" (12) in about the one o'clock position and give the insert a counterclockwise twist as you insert it, it settles in nice and flush, and the friction ring doesn't roll up. I suggest counterclockwise because the bezel unsnaps in the clockwise direction.I attached a picture of my clock project. For what it's worth, the wood I used used to be a wheelbarrow handle.I am real pleased with this insert.

The clock fits perfect . Wish it had thicker Roman Numbers like the one that I had to replace. Keeps good time in the week that I have had it. Only one odd thing is the second hand squeaks when it goes around on the seconds. Squeaks and then tick tick tick, then squeak squeak squeak. I hope it stops squeaking . When the room is quiet, thats all you hear are the squeaks as the second hand moves. Picture of old face and new.

Needed it to come from Amazon for price and free delivery but couldn’t find the exact size. This clock was 1/4 inch too small for the opening of my wood clock case, but a paper towel and several rubber bands around the back of the clock resolved the size differential perfectly, and with the lip of the clock face wider than the back, you can’t see what’s happening in the back anyway.

I had ordered a small clock before from another company. Three tries and that one still did not keep time. It stopped or the second hand got stuck. I wanted a small, round clock on the wall by my computer. So I took a chance on this "insert". I used velcrox and put it on the wall. It is far more attractive than the other one and keeps perfect time. The ticking does not bother me. I grew up with ticking grandfather and wall clocks. I love the sound.

I inserted this clock into a defunct mantle clock frame I owned. This comes with a rubber ring which made centering easier, although I just tacked it into place with a hot glue gun. The clock face is clean, the glass is slightly curved which causes a bit more reflection than the old face, and with a gold sweep second hand, the clock is easy to read from across the room without confusion the second hand for the minute hand (like my previous clock...). The gold outer trim is clean, uniform, and attractive. Very good value overall.

Like the other reviewer, I needed to add rubber bands to make it fit my opening. It also extended farther beyond the face of the clock than the old one, which was more flush with the front of the clock. Lastly, the roman numerals are smaller than expected. Having said all this, it does stay in the opening, it does keep time, it is nice enough looking, but just doesn't look as good as the original clock it replaced even though it is generally a replica of the original in design.
