It works so well that I only use the lowest setting.
It keeps my living room too cold even on the lowest setting. I moved it to the kitchen so it keeps the living room just right but my kitchen too cold. I'm going to add my dining room to the equation lol. It's very quiet. I wish the vents would point upwards because heat rises but I'm thinking about putting a table underneath to raise it up. The casters roll really well. I purchased a second one for a bedroom but I'm thinking it would be too cold for the size of the room. Oh! The venting tube that expelled the heat should have been longer and the window casing wasn't designed right. I had to create my own casing. I'll probably go purchase a longer hose because I can't move this around very much.

The display that shows the current temperature is a nice addition. Only fault I have with it is ...
I've had it running for about 3 weeks now and haven't had any problems. Assembly was straight forward, just had to find the bag of screws for mounting the exhaust hose. Box arrived very beat up and was worried about something being broken, but I followed other reviews that said to leave it standing upright not turned on for a little while to make sure all its inside pieces settled back into place. The unit is being used in Alabama during the summer in a room on the second floor that's connected to the attic and unconnected to the central house AC. This room gets very hot and so far the unit has managed to keep the room below 80 degrees, usually around 76. The display that shows the current temperature is a nice addition. Only fault I have with it is that moisture collects on the front of the unit due to the cold air blown out and the room temp. It hasn't gotten too bad, just a collection of single droplets in a row, just hoping it doesn't get worse. Water collector thing hasn't beeped yet and no leaks from the tap. Solid purchase so far.

The best I've ever tried
Having tried several similar units over the years, I'm happy to report that this unit has outperformed them all in every way. Powerful, reliable, efficient, easy to maintain. The noise level is no greater than other units I've tried, and significantly less than some. The heaters work as well as the Z/C does. I am currently using three of these units in a variety of rooms, and all are doing their job just fine.

Best and that is why we bought it again
Bought this brand in 2008, just didn't have heat pump feature. Worked great in 20'X17' master bedroom in our hot Midwest heat. Only reason for buying new one was it started to leak, but still cools like a champ. Worth every penny to us. We never use central AC as we Zone cool and heat our rooms. This Edgestar paid for itself many times over when we quit using central AC for our 3500sq.ft. home in 2008.

Excellent customer service from Edgestar
I bought this unit to dehumidify my basement and it did an excellent job (until it broke). My old dehumidifier would heat up the basement as it had no facility to exhaust the hot air, and this unit kept the basement dry and cool by exhausting the hot air outside. As it removed 3 to 5 gallons of water every day due to our unusually hot and humid summer (even here in New England), I had to drain the water into a bucket (I put it on a platform with the bucket underneath). That much water was too much for the evaporative system to keep up with.Everything was fine until 95 days after I received it. Suddenly it started making a horrendous grinding noise and shook itself, apparently from a failed compressor. The warranty was for 1 year parts and 90 days labor, and said I would have to pay for shipping the unit to California. I figured that was a losing proposition if I would also have to pay the labor charges, so I thought about buying a new (different brand) unit at a local dealer. My wife said "call Edgestar" and see what they would do for us. So I called, and the customer service was outstanding! At no cost to me, they shipped me a brand new unit and said I should use the box to return the old unit to them, at their cost.My 3 star review reflects disappointment in the reliability of the unit and happiness in their excellent customer service.

Defective - destroyed it's own exhaust fan after a few weeks of heavy use.
So...I bought this to cool a small 10'x20' room - half the size it's rated for. Here's a shorthand timeline of events:-Install setup was not bad, although the window hardware doesn't really create a proper seal unless you use a lot of duct tape.-Functioned as expected for a couple weeks - it cooled the room and kept it cool.-It was really loud. You could hear it through walls in other rooms when it turned on.-The exhaust hose isn't very secure - it disconnected on it's own a few times. After about 3-4 weeks of heavy use (in a dry climate), something happened. My wife and I woke at about 3 AM to a loud boom followed by a crunching sound. I went to check what it was and it turned out to be this AC unit. The exhaust fan decided to eat itself. The exhaust hose was disconnected and there were tiny bits of plastic parts (the exhaust fan pieces) everywhere.I've since bought a new unit from a different brand (went to a local hardware store just in case I need to return it). The new unit is the same price, works more efficiently, and is just over all better made. The new unit It even came with foam to seal the window hardware. The new unit runs about half as often as the old one, while cooling even better. It's also a lot quieter.YOU WILL MOST LIKELY FIND A BETTER UNIT FOR THE SAME PRICE.

Works well and keeps it cool
Works well in my camper van. Keeps it cool even here in Florida. It also pulls enough moisture out of the air to keep it nice and dry in here. Only thing I wish is that it would have adjustable vents up and down. It does adjust left and right though

Weak blower
I bought this unit to help cool my garage with about 400 square ft. Cool. This unit does get cold but you have to sit in front of it to feel it. The blower motor does not blow very hard at all. Do to this, it will not lower the temperature at all. My friend has a older unit that blows so much harder. The exhaust hose will not stay in the unit if it is moved 1in. Bad design. My garage has a insulated door and one outside wall not insulated. This unit takes 2hrs to lower the temperature 1 degree. Would not recommend for a garage.
