Versatile Beard Trimmer with Precision Tool
This trimmer works just like my previous one did. It has a main beard hair adjustable length trimming feature, an supports between 1 and 20 mm in length. There are two combs, one for 1-10mm, the other for 11-20mm. The razor supports being submerged in water. It also has a special trimmer extension for fine adjustments, which is the main reason I bought it. I like this feature the best for fine trimming of my moustache, and sometimes for nose hair. The quality is very good, as I would expect with a Japanese product, and it feels sturdy and reliable. It charges with an included cable that plugs into the base. The only improvement would be for a wall charger to be added (that holds the razor in place on the wall, rather than having to attach a cable).

Best I've Ever Owned
The Panasonic Body and Beard Trimmer is the best I've ever owned; I'd put it in the same class as the trimmer my barber uses. The trimmer is a little bit heavier than the other brands, but that's a good thing. The trimmer feels solid in your hand and is easy to guide. The device is well engineered and does a great job keeping my beard and mustache trimmed cleanly. I've had it for three months now, and the blades are still sharp and it gives me the same trim that I got the day it arrived from Amazon.I've owned many beard trimmers over the years. The Wahl trimmers are lightweight, have a narrow cutting head, the beard-combs are flimsy plastic and easily move out of place, and after a couple months use, the blades seemed dull and I started getting uneven trims. I've owned three Braun Cruzers over the years; the Braun use to be my favorite until I discovered the Panasonic model. The problem with the Braun is that it does not travel well. The adjustable plastic comb is supported for use, but not for packing; every model I've owned has suffered a broken comb in travel. The Panasonic's comb and adjustment mechanism do not suffer from the bizarre Braun design and thru three months of heavy travel, they have held up to airline baggage handlers and being thrown around by taxi drivers without a nick.My five-star rating is not to say that the Panasonic device is not without it's flaws. My real rating would been a 4.9 if Amazon allowed partial star ratings. There are two areas of improvement that I hope Panasonic would consider. First, the travel bag is a joke - it's flimsy and there is not enough space for both the clipper and the charger; for nearly $100 I'd expect more. I found a Tumi zippered bag that does the trick for $7.Second, and this is a knock on all portable non-computer/phone devices with a charger, and that is, every low-power portable device should be USB-C compatible. The voltage specs on the Panasonic charger indicate that the power requirements fit nicely inside the USB power capability. I swear that 15% of my suitcase weight is attributable to chargers. And once every couple of months, I realize I've forgotten and donated an odd-ball charger to the hotel housekeeping staff. I would rather carry one or two USB chargers and two or three USB-C cables to power all of my devices. And if I loose a cable or charger, it's easily replaced; unlike the goofy charger and connector Panasonic provides. And certainly with the commodity pricing of USB-C, Panasonic could probably shave-off [no pun intended] some of the bill-of-materials cost... And now that I think about it for a bit, if Panasonic adopts USB-C charger connections, then there is no reason to increase the size of the travel bag.

Excellent beard trimmer
Over the years I've had some horrible luck with beard trimmers. Having a coarse beard myself, many trimmers don't hold up, have 15 attachments to fumble with, and don't clean up easily. And on top of it all, they don't have enough length adjustments.I out-right abuse this trimmer. I've been using it for 4 months, used the adjustable length to grow my beard evenly (every week click it up one notch to go longer), rinse it off, apply zero oil to the blade (other than the first time), and at the end the maximum length is a solid beard and evenly trimmed. I also found it easy to keep the same attachment and shorten the length for my moustache. I'm not sure I've charged it more than twice - so it holds a charge. If I had to manufacture something to not like about this, it does not do trimming well (squaring off the corners of my beard, for example). I have an actual razor for that and I don't usually keep a beard in the summer. Like most non-razor trimmers, when I extend the trimmer it doesn't have enough speed, and pulls at hair a little. It took me all of 5 seconds to figure that out, and I went back to my high speed razor to do that maintenance. The trimmer may be OK for fine hair, and I wouldn't want anything compromised to make it a better trimmer. So 5 stars to keep it exactly as it is.

Honest Review Based on Cost, Quality, and Use
I bought the ER-GB80-S to trim my beard.COST: At $75 these were on the higher end of the budget for something like trimmers. Outside of the adjustability, I went for these because of the smaller, fine trimming blade built in.QUALITY: For as nice as it looks it is quite light. This is nice when spending time trimming, but takes away from the feel of high quality. It is comfortable to hold as a mix of plastic and rubber for grip. The attachments, height adjustments, and blade all hold into place tight.USE: Here is where I started to have problems. This trimmer is rather large and it was difficult to change my grip to get both sides of my face, go up and down, etc. The blade keeps snagging in my beard and makes light or detailed trims difficult. As I run the blade through my beard, I can feel it snagging and pulling hair rather than trimming it. This has resulted in some uneven trims when I am just trying to take a bit off without the guards. I am hoping that this issue resolves itself as I wear it in, but it has been 4 or 5 trims and I am still snagging... The ability to wash the blade off is really nice and the smaller detail blade is awesome for my mustache.SUMMARY: So much about these trimmers are nice and I could see why the price was $75. However the struggle to complete its main function is greatly disappointing. If you have a fine or soft beard you will probably like this trimmer. If you have a rough, bushy, or course beard you might want to keep looking.
