This is a good book. I have to admit that I was expecting a little more variety in terms of design and method than what's here. It may be that my expectations were the problem, though; this is a scrollsawing book, not a woodworking book, so the range of methods is necessarily going to be a little narrower.That said, the designs are all tasteful and of high quality. There's nothing here of the "why would anybody bother to make THAT?" variety. And the instructions are very clear and very accessible to the beginner--just what readers have come to expect from its author, who has taught so many scrollers through her books and articles. I bought this book as part of a bundled discount and have no regrets.

I bought this book and also Gary Mackays' book, Box-Making Projects for the Scroll Saw at the same time. Even though there are some cool projects in his book that I will build, Diana Thompsons book is much more artistic. You can really see the difference between a mans point of view and a womans. I like Dianas projects much more. One point to mention though, Her box projects are all lift off top boxes. I would recommend this book.

Even if you're not interested in these projects specifically, you'll learn alot from the instructions.

Voici encore un nouveau livre qui est venu agrandir ma collection. Si vous désirez fabriquez des boîtes en chantournage alors je vous conseille l'achat de cette ouvrage, qui comporte beaucoup de motifs avec plans (31 motifs) très divers, boîte en forme ananas,boîte avec découpe sur couvercle, boîte avec collage en bois sur couvercle, enfin bref il y as du choix.Par contre il préciser dans la définition du livre un carrousel attention cela n'ai pas un carrousel style manège de bois, mes une boîte musical avec possibilité de mettre un cheval, cygne ou ange 3D sur le dessus.Je trouve que ce livre est un bon complément du livre "Custom Wooden music boxes for the scroll saw de RICK & KAREN LONGABAUGH"Il possède une couverture carton souple et des pages glacées avec quelques motifs fini.Amicalement Sandrine

Que voilà un autre superbe revue signée Diana Thompson pour les passionnés du bois. Outre touts les exemples parfaitement réalisables, la porte est ouverte pour notre créativité.

This is worth buying if you want a good introduction to scroll saw box making. The author describes in detail her technique for making basic scroll saw boxes and then gives patterns and ideas for how you could expand on this. It is written by a North American author so expect the use of woods that are expensive to source in the UK and the use of large power tools which you may not have! Still a nice book to have in your workshop.
