No-nonsense police sergeant Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) is back heading up her team of dedicated police officers in the Calder Valley of West Yorkshire. While on duty, she makes a gruesome discovery a body, whose injuries bear a striking similarity to a string of other murders over the previous few months, suggesting a serial killer is on the loose. The case becomes even more shocking when Catherine discovers she knows the victim something that could have serious repercussions for both herself and her family.

Would highly recommend!
It was great! My cousins and I love a good British crime drama for our stayovers so we bought both Season 1 and 2 to do a marathon. Some parts were distressing, others emotional and it gave a good insight into how the police force work.Sarah Lancashire is a wonderful actress and really did bring the waterworks on at some points, as well as getting us to jump out of our cosy seats shouting "Girl Power!"We were watching it on the Amazon Prime Video app via a smart TV - please be aware that there are no subtitles/closed captioning available which we were quite disappointed about. Those people with hearing difficulties may experience issues with the sound as we able-hearing people struggled. I found the dialogue was unclear, a bit too bass, and obscured by the background music/noises. We did infact try all the different combinations of the sound settings on her TV but this made no difference. We also tried other Amazon Prime programs to see if it was just Happy Valley and this does seem to be the case.

Be jeezus this is good...gripping drama . I've only watched half of it and am savouring the rest like a good bar of chocolate for this weekend.Sarah Lancashire and the rest of the cast are fabulous..what casting. Award winning - the best police drama since Helen Mirren as DC Tennison....

Drama, humour and tension all in abundance.Great acting performances especially from Sarah Lancashire .This season and the original season 1 are a wonderful watch.

Very special - watch it!
A spectacularly good series. The most realistic Police procedural that I've seen in years. Has sufficient depth that (unlike so many others these days) it does not simply rely on lots of gun toting extras to create drama. Sally Wainwright and Sarah Lancashire should have won every TV award going.

This is a gritty realistic portrayal of life .....Sarah Lancashire Siobhan Finneman andJames Norton are brilliant actors.

An excellent series to watch. Great if you've seen series 1 but you could still enjoy it if you haven't.
