Keep Moving: Notes on Loss, Creativity, and Change

Honor your experience without living in the past -- equal parts encouragement and catharsis
A wonderfully composed piece in every way. The words speak to me both like scripture and a therapist. The importance of holding multiple feelings, such as "feeling joy is not betraying your grief" is iterated like a painting, each composition speaking differently to the viewer. I particularly love the depth and maturity in the words. Maggie has clearly felt her feelings and not supressed them. For that reason, this is not a coffee table book. To be appreciated, savor slowly. Take time to sit in the sun and imagine the future, while honoring the past, but living in the present. As a graphic designer, I love everything about this hard copy. The colors are vibrant, the text is chunked in a digestable way which encourages the reader to meditate and take time with each poem. As another reviewer mentioned, there is an instance where the white text is difficult to read on the turquoise color block. This is an isolated incident on page 6. Hopefully something that can be corrected before future print runs. It would not stop me from buying more copies of this wonderfully raw and inspiring piece.

Wonderful, accessible companion for a time of life transitions.
I found this book to be a wonderful companion during a time of great transition in my life. I am reading it a second time and it is spurring me to move forward and heal. Every time I open it there is something to learn or be validated or inspired to accept the struggle and move forward with hope and trust that the present and future are opportunities. It is clearly written. It is written with an open heart. Although I am older than Maggie and my transition is of a different nature, it is just as wonderful and helpful. Thank you Maggie for writing such a wonder personal companion through a time of change and transition from a life that was expected and hoped for, to a life of new and encouraging opportunities.

Timely Inspiration for this season during our pandemic.
I found this to be an ideal book to read to sustain our hopes while the world is reeling with losses. Many people have lost their loved ones, their homes, their jobs, and their purpose. The author reminds us to keep moving forward!

Daily Words to Buoy You Through Life and Loss
I have a few of Maggie's poetry collections, and I love her poetry. I found myself quoting her Facebook updates to my university students, so I was thrilled to hear she was assembling them into a book. I've read and own many books and card sets with daily devotions, including some sophisticated ones on Buddhist philosophy. I would say if you or someone you love are drawn to books or cards with daily devotions, don't hesitate on this one. The wisdom comes with Maggie's open spirit and a poet's gift for words. So much rings true, now as ever. The book itself is aesthetically beautiful, slightly whimsical. I got mine recently, and I love it! I keep it on my desk, turn and read a page first thing in the morning, letting the words carry me through the day. I bought two additional copies for friends/family who recently lost a loved one.

Love the context, had the dirt, marks and scratches
Tried to find the correct option to communicate feed back and this is the best I could find. Arrived as noted following day. After opening the box and removing the book, there are marks and scratches on the cover. Not worth my hassle of sending back as it was for my wife, but would have rather gifted her one that looked better!

Beautiful book, helpful and inspirational little bites of motivation to keep moving!
This book is absolutely wonderful! I love the small, handheld size of the book and the beautiful color. The different fonts and layouts of the pages were visually appealing as well. For me, it has the right mix of longer, personal essays and short but effective bursts of motivation and inspiration. I find it so helpful and inspiring that I keep it on my home desk to grab during my working hours for whenever I need a quick pick me up or begin to feel stressed. I tend to really beat myself up with negative self talk and pausing to review a couple pages has helped me stop the cycle and “keep moving” instead of spiraling downward on those tough days. I highly recommend this and will be buying it as gifts for friends and family! The perfect mix of motivation and self-care without being cheesy or preachy, just feels real.

Not as Earth-shatteringly helpful as it's made out to be.
As a person who lost a loved one this past year I found this to be a completely USELESS book, full of maxims interspersed by a couple of pages here and there describing the author's divorce or some themes she tied to it. Nothing concrete or practical that actually HELPS. Unless you live your life through maxims like "Accept the pain and use it to forge your path" or some variation thereof, there's nothing really concrete that can help you if you're going through a rough patch of your own (which you surely are or you wouldn't be thinking of buying this book).I found "Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road" by Neil Peart a much better read and more useful in managing my pain. What he felt and described that he was going through after his loss mirrored my own some many times I thought he was reading my mind - although he described it better than I ever could have. In the end his book doesn't tell you how to get over your pain but by traveling with him you realize that each of us have to find an outlet to help us heal. It could be through art, or fishing or hiking or whatever you find helps YOU. In his case it was traveling around Canada, the US and Mexico by motorbike and I found that that's just what I'd need too. HIs book helped me much more than this one did.
