KOHLER32 098 10-S Starter Assembly - 9 Tooth, Replaces 32 098 08-S

Bout this for my 2011 husqvarna rz 4623 old starter was so weak an stopped catching fly wheel. Priced one at local parts house $200 received this one a man it’s night a day turns over so easily an is so much durable then the old crap! Definitely Best Buy here

Original starter was underpowered for the engine and could barely crank it over when cold. If you tried to shut it off and restart while warm, it would not and a cool down period was needed, approx. 30 minutes. This starter cranks right over every time, no issues. Fairly expensive, but it's FIXED. Very happy.

The last 2 Kohler lawn mowers I had have been very difficult to 'crank'. I thought it might just be too much ignition advance causing the very hard to crank problem. Anyway my 2 year old Cub (25 hp twin engine) was getting harder and harder to start. I kept chargingthe battery and jumped it off from a car battery several times. Well it just got worse and worse and I noticed the started was quite hot when it should not have been. Anyway this new started worked like I thought it should. It cranked strong and fast. I can only think that both engines came from the factory with defective starters. Anyway this one works great.

AFTER CRACKING THE SHAFT OF MY OLD OEM STARTER, I REPLACED IT WITH THE Kohler 32 098 08-S Starter Assembly - 9 Tooth. AFTER HAVING READ SEVERAL REVIEWS STATING THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THIS PRODUCT AS AN OEM PART I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED IT CAME IN A KOHLER BOX. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE INSTALLATION TOOK 5 MINUTES AND IT PERFORMED BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE. IN HAVING OWNED MY KOHLER FOR 6 YEARS IT NEVER STARTED AS SMOOTHLY AS IT DID AFTER THE NEW STARTER INSTALLATION. IT FIRED UP THE KOHLER ENGINE ON THE FIRST TURN AND SEVERAL TRIES AFTER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR A 9 TOOTH STARTER. I WILL CERTAINLY UPDATE THIS POST SHOULD ANYTHING CHANGE IN THE FUTURE GOOD OR BAD.

Bought this starter because I thought mine was bad (was the battery). But when I tried to take off the one that was on by trying to remove the wire that goes to the bolt, I didn't hold the wire connector when turning the nut. The whole bolt turned inside the housing and most likely ripped the wires inside ruining the probably-good-starter.Installed the new one and after realizing it was a bad battery, replaced the battery and it worked great. Easy install w/ just the 2 bolts to hold to the engine and the one for the wire.

Took a few days longer to arrive than promised, but otherwise a perfect fit and function!

The updated, larger shaft with 9 cogs (aka the OEM -8 version) has WAY MORE torque and cranks my Husqvarna LGT2554 more quickly and quietly then ever before! Installation was just as easy as taking off 2 bolts + power wire and done. You can pay a lot less - BUT - be careful! The cheap knockoffs say they are the same as the -8 version, but they are not when you read the details. COUNT THE COGS! If there are 10 then it is NOT the updated/updated -8 version and will have the same problems over tine as the original versions did. My original -3 version snapped off the bendix cog from the shaft. This was the cheapest OEM -8 starter available when I bought it.
