This shoe fits me perfect at 9D
Shoe runs half size large. This shoe fits me perfect at 9D. My foot is a true 9.5D. I wear a 9.5D in Cole Haan (with dress socks): Lunargrand (12 pairs), Hudson Penny Loafer and Hudson Bit Loafer. My Converse shoe size is 9D (with dress socks) in canvas and leather. Other Allen Edmonds shoes that fit me in 9D: Strand, Neumok, Franciscan and McTavish. The leather is thick and high quality. Use Allen Edmonds' shoe polish for best results. The walnut is my favorite color. I use the McAllister (in carnauba high polish) with slacks and the Strand (in normal shine shoe cream) with dark jeans. Both look great, a very versatile shoe and a great addition to anyone's wardrobe.Collection consists of 10+ pairs of Allen Edmonds.

Great versatile shoe - looks great dressed up with a suit or dressed down with some chinos
Sizing for this shoe is a little off... like another reviewer, I wear either 9.5 or 10 in Nike, but the 8.5 fit perfectly. The McTavish that fits me is a size 9. Not sure why the sizing is off, especially since the Allen Edmonds McTavish is pretty much a version of this in softer leather.I got these in Walnut along with the matching Manistee belt. First day I wore these to the office, I got load of compliments. I wore them with a suit, but these shoes look great with a pair of chinos or even some jeans. The leather is great quality. I didn't need to break them in at all. The price on these may seem expensive, but this is a shoe you can resole for a few bucks and it should last a lifetime with proper care.

Great American made shoes!
Allen Edmonds is the great American shoe company and these shoes are a testament to fine American craftsmanship. Wearing them takes you back in time to a time when men dressed like men. When you shaved with a straight razor and put on a suit every morning for work. The leather soles quietly click beneath you and the cork inner soles conforms perfectly to your feet providing the utmost in comfort. These shoes remind me of a time gone by when every man wore leather shoes and had a polishing kit to take care of his investment. You don't throw these out like a thrashed pair of sneakers when the sole is worn, you have them recrafted and wear them for another five years then wear them and repeat. If you appreciate true, American made quality buy a pair, you will love the feeling of becoming an Allen Edmonds man. Just be warned, you will become addicted. Since buying this pair of AE shoes I have bought 15 more pair and now I refuse to wear anything else. They feel so good you will throw away your sneakers and start dressing much nicer on a daily basis.

One defective shoe, one decent shoe
I typically don't write many reviews, and It pains my soul to have to write this one.... but I'm doing so in hopes someone from Alan Edmonds possibly sees it and takes note. I'll be returning these beautiful Walnut McAlister's, due to the left shoe being what could only be considered a factory 2nd. Unacceptable in every way shape and form. The right shoe is almost completely fine. The left shoe has major dye issues, staining issues, grinding issues, scuffs, delamination...all from the factory. Lovely.Where to begin.... First thing I noticed on the left shoe, was what can only be described as a water drop on the toe...or something similar (maybe a workers sweat?) A white little splash. Also, really bad dying all over. Major black scuff on the inside (exterior)... Where it actually damaged the pinking (sawtooth) right next to it. The heel is ground down and beveled on the left side way too much. The heel also has an odd ridge in the center. It's not at all the perfect curve I'm used to on good AE's. The two leather pieces at the top of the tongue are delaminating. None of this is on the right shoe... which is as close to perfect as you could expect/hope. Just the left. Well I take that back, there is one noticeable ding across the side of the sole on the right shoe, which in all honesty shouldn't be there on a brand new shoe. Ugh. For what it's worth and included a pic of the one little ding on the right shoe's side.Whoever was making, and inspecting this left shoe, in particular, must have been seriously distracted. One star just because this really should have been easy to spot at the factory.Still love Allen Edmonds, and will continue to buy them, just maybe next time at the store.

Great shoe
A bit expensive but besides British shoes, they’re one of the best. Looks and feels great.

Beautiful Shoes, but order big
The shoes are great, but Allen Edmonds shoes are insanely uncomfortable. The bottom of the shoe is as hard as a rock and the "insole" cannot be removed to put in a better insole. The only option is to buy a bigger size and insert an insole above the standard Allen Edmonds material. I have shoes from Johnston & Murphy that are much, much more comfortable.
