So pretty!!!
This came out so beautiful! A word of warning though, these types of stocking kits are not meant for beginners. You have to be somewhat experienced in sewing or embroidery. This is probably the 10th one I've done, and they make wonderful gifts to newlyweds to start their new lives together.A few tips.- Do NOT cut out the pieces all at once.- If possible, do all of the embroidery and sequins first. Keep in mind the cut lines so that you don't cut your stitches when cutting out the pieces. If you do these before hand, it will make assembly go much faster.- If you want to make the stocking stronger, use interface on both the front and back pieces before starting.- I do the name embroidery last, before sewing the back on. This way, I can change placement if I want to.- Don't be afraid to make changes....if there is something you don't like and the stocking won't miss it, then skip it. Sometimes the detail is overkill and I leave some out. For example, I didn't feel like doing the curls on the side of her head...and left those off.- For really small pieces, use fabric glue.- For the rest, I recommend you stitch them on.....it won't look the same if you use glue. If you're going to put the effort into making it, you may as well go all the way!

Great fun craft
I had never done this type of craft until I bought the Football Santa stocking for my nephew. I got this one for my neice. I love these stockings & am doing a different design for each member of my family. I had expected them to be easier - just felt & glue but they are more complex & involve lots of embroidary & delicate details. Yet they are not so difficult that new comers will have trouble. I have not done embroidary for years - since college yet I had no difficulty. I even worked on the Football Santa stocking & this Princess stocking while I was in the hospital (recovering from some complications from an operation - actually had to have yet another operation & worked on the Wizard of Oz stocking for my aunt & the Holly Hobby stocking for my mom during that hospital stay). I love getting lost in the details of this craft & look forward to doing more like it.

Beautiful
I made this stocking last year for my niece. It turned out beautiful. I have been making Bucilla stockings for 20 years for a total of 7.They are fun to make but can be time consuming so start early.I have used these stockings for my children and filled them with small toys and candy. They have held up fine over the years (my oldest is 21).I suggest that if you plan on using them to fill and not for decoration alone that you use extra thread to reinforce the sides and the tab you hang the stocking from.

Easy as Pie
I have absolutely never, ever sewn anything in my life except for the little practice I had when I was about 5 years old. Picking this up seemed extremely daunting for someone with little sewing skill but the kit comes with extremely comprehensive instructions that walked me through everything. The only thing that I ended up needing were pins, plastic bins to separate beads and sequins, sharp sewing scissors and extra floss (but that is easily findable in any craft store, fabric store, or walmart I believe). This project has to be for an organized person because of how many pieces you will have to juggle, but really, coming from a complete beginner, it isn't hard at all. It won't be a perfect project but it certainly will be something that you will be proud of!I spent about 2 weeks making this, but that's only if you have time to put in a couple 6 hour days like I did.2 warnings!:This is not a usable stocking, it's just for decoration. Though if you bought an extra fleece sheet (available at hobby lobby or other craft stores) you could potentially do it.Don't, for any reason, cut off the numbers to any of the pieces unless you pin them on or you are about to sew them to the stocking! It was wayyyy confusing to me toward the end.

I loved putting this together and the finished product was gorgeous
I loved putting this together and the finished product was gorgeous! But.... This is a lot of work. I'm a busy person, so I only had snatches of time to work on this. Every single bit of embellishment has to be sewn on, either embroidery or sequins. Every color change is a different piece of fabric. (So those stripes? Tiny red rectangles, each uniquely shaped to fit the white flounce, each with 3 sequins.) Some pieces need to be stuffed to create a relief effect. I think a novice with basic hand sewing skills could do it, but would find it intimidating. I am not a novice and found it intimidating! All told, it was 7 months from start to finish.

Beauty but very detailed and time consuming
Still in the throes of making it, but I think it will be beautiful. The people at Merry Stockings are wonderful. I have called 3 times with various questions and they are very helpful and patient. I was told this is the stocking they receive the most inquiries about because it is the most difficult one to make.

Always quality
I always buy Bucilla. Everything is included and of excellent quality. The colors are vivid and the instructions are clear. Whatever I make comes out beautifully because of the kit.

Poor quality sequins
Several or the primary sequin colors - sapphire, ruby and emerald - were of very poor color saturation. The backs were deep even colors, the front colors were worn and patchy. Had to purchase replacements to finish.

Very pretty
Beautiful item, really looking forward to making this one up. I have made several of the Bucilla Felt kits in the past and they are so enjoyble to do and look stunning when completed with all the beads and sequins, the photos never do them justice. All the stitches and techniques needed are explained clearly in the instructions and the pieces are all numbered so as long as you follow the correct order you can't go wrong. There are a lot of sequins and beads in all of these kits so requires good eyesight and a lot of patience, this one also has a lot more embroidery than some of the others so im expecting it will take some time to complete.

The largest cost is your time - but the result is worth it.
Arrived in 2 days ! Which is a good thing, because fabulous as it looks (and I've done about 1/2 of it, and it does look fabulous) it is quite time consuming to do. I sorted all the embroidery threads, and tied them into a hole-punched card that I made - so they could be labeled and kept tidy. I put all the beads and sequins into a couple of small plastic containers I had that had separate sections - again tidy, and easy to put away. (You will be putting it away to work on in sessions). I didn't like the way the embroidered child's name looked on the stocking top when I did it - so I printed out some samples in various fonts on my computer, and will cut the name out in scraps of the white felt, and just appliqué it on also. All that aside, did I mention that even 1/2 done it does look fabulous ?

and it was a very good service, plus much cheaper than buying them from ...
I bought two kits from this supplier in the USA, and it was a very good service, plus much cheaper than buying them from the UK. This is a very complex pattern to follow, but the instructions are clear, with good diagrams for all the more challenging pieces of the design. You just have to take your time and work through the pattern in a methodical way. I haven't done embroidery much before, but I am thoroughly enjoying learning all these new stitches, and I know the stocking will be absolutely stunning when I have finished it.

There are lots of different bits so it will take a while and is quite fiddly but no great skill needed and a lovely project
This is available from Amazon in the UK for just a few pence more so no need to buy from the states. It's a lovely kit, all the felt shapes are pre printed so you just need to cut out, sew on with a little stuffing, add beads and sequences and embroider. There are lots of different bits so it will take a while and is quite fiddly but no great skill needed and a lovely project!
