Easy to use. Beautiful appearance

I used these little iron buttons to cover the screws that were used to attach my stained cedar shutters to the house. I used two at the bottom and two at the top of each shutter. Paired with hammered strap hinges and shutter dogs, it creates a very finished look to the shutter, plus it hides the silver screw! Win Win! Hint: to get it as close to the screw head as possible, I first tapped a nail hole right next the screw head so I could get the clavos to cover the screw head. I used a rubber mallet to tap it into the hole I made with the nail. Covered the screw perfectly, but you have to get it placed right up next to the screw head or it will not cover adequately.

These were a perfect addition to my custom built sliding barn door! I pre-drilled a guide hole and placed a piece of scrap wood over the nail head before hammering it in. I wanted the door to appear like it was a restored piece of history. These hand forged clavos nails were the finishing touch!
