Marvelous mixer!
Madly in love with my mixer. The only regret is I didn't buy it sooner. Super easy to use, easy to clean, and the attachments are easy to take apart and switch out. It's super heavy but it made my Xmas baking a cinch this year! Highly recommend.

Powerful but quiet
The mixer is very sturdy and powerful. The motor runs quietly, so that I can use it while my husband watches his football games on TV without having to wait for the commercials to come on! It is also quicker than my old mixer from another big name company. Clean up was easy. Glad I bought it.

Timeless Workhorse For Every Cook
We’ve wanted a KitchenAide stand mixer for years, finally bought the silver/brushed silver color on a special sale. It’s epic. Can be used for darn near anything. We’re especially impressed with the dough-making capabilities. We only use almond or coconut flour (no gluten), and the hook is terrific. I expect this machine to go to one of my kids, someday — it’s a workhorse.

Awesome!
I have wanted a KitchenAid mixer like forEVER! Gave my much more expensive one to a friend. I've only used this one 1 time and I'm already in love with it. Don't know if I'll use the food grinder, but the price with the food grinder was less than the price without, so I got a bonus! Now I just have to find something to grind. :) Mixer is HEAVY - but that's OK because you want it to be stable, especially when using at high speeds. VERY happy with purchase!

Awkward for first-timer, learning curve
I've wanted this KitchenAid mixer for years, have had it on my wishlist for a long time! Amazon had a one-day sale on this the other day, and I just couldn't pass it up! I really don't need a meat-grinder, doubtful I'll ever use it, but the price of this including the meat-grinder was less than other KitchenAids that don't include it.To start - I have a perfectly good 5qt GE stand-mixer, been using it for decades - but it's not strong enough for the final phase of cookie dough (mixing in dry ingredients), so I've always had to finish that part by hand. Plus, having a heavy-duty KitchenAid mixer on the counter is almost a status symbol! It's not an appliance that's relegated to the confines of the bottom cabinet! This mixer arrived on Saturday, it was immediately unboxed, washed, and set up on it's new home of my kitchen counter (I bought the Contour Silver, as my appliances are all the brushed steel/black finish, it blends perfectly). Sunday, I made cookies (peanut butter/oatmeal/chocolate chip/M&M, divine!) with it. Here is my initial take:I did purchase the paddle-blade with the scraper and used this instead of the paddle-blade that was included - perhaps I shouldn't have, as I'll say at the end.I'm very used to a stand-mixer with 2 beaters that take up half the bowl, leaving an open space to scrape the sides of the bowl, plus the bowl spins freely or from the beaters. That open space also leaves room for adding ingredients without lifting the mixer. The KitchenAid bowl is tall and narrow, the one big beater, plus the size of the actual machine leave little to no room for adding ingredients. As for scraping the bowl with a spatula, forget it! There's a bit of space to scrape one side of the bowl - but since the bowl doesn't spin, and because of the size of the blade and mixer, it's about impossible to reach the other side (plus, this mixer weighs 25+ pounds and the non-skid feet do their job, it's not easily moveable!). Even though I was using the paddle-blade with scraper, it didn't scrape the bowl higher than the paddle-level, plus it doesn't exactly reach the side of the bowl for perfect scraping. Trying to scrape this bowl led to me hitting the machine with a gooey spatula, getting butter/sugar/egg goo on my brand new machine (sure, it wipes off, that's not the point). Lifting the head doesn't leave room for improvement, the giant paddle (full of goo) is still in the way. Stupidly, I decided to remove the bowl with the head raised (paddle full of goo), thinking the mixture was stiff enough to not drip until I could get the bowl back under. WRONG! I pulled the bowl to quickly stir it, and PLOP, came the batter off the paddle, getting butter/sugar/egg goo all over the base. Sigh. Lesson learned, don't remove bowl. Also, while just mixing the wet ingredients, batter was still flinging off the paddle during mixing, almost above the bowl rim, so I put on the flimsy pour-guard/shield. When it came time to add the dry ingredients, I thought the pour-shield was great, I could just add the flour mix spoon by spoon through the shield. Well, by this time, the dough was the height of the paddle (double batch), so every spoonful of flour I added landed on the top of the dough, the paddle came around and hit the flour, making it poof higher than the bowl. The pour-shield is very flimsy and NOT tight fitting in the least, so I still had flour all over the counter around the bowl, as well as flour dust all over the machine. On the plus side, the KitchenAid was strong enough to handle the thick cookie dough (no way my GE mixer could do this). The final step was adding the chocolate chips and M&Ms. At this point, the dough was almost to the top of the bowl. This is where I probably shouldn't have used the paddle-scraper, since the scraper part was close enough to the edge of the bowl that the chips and M&Ms wouldn't mix well. I finished that part by hand, I think had I used the regular paddle it would have been fine (perhaps the regular paddle wouldn't have caused the flour to poof all over, too). Finally, it comes to removing the bowl. I lifted the head. With a normal, 2-beater mixer, you lift the head, remove the beaters, and tap them on the side of the bowl to shake off the remaining dough (then lick the rest off the beaters!). The paddle had to be scraped with a spatula to remove the dough, it's too big and awkward to tap it on the bowl, plus it's an awkward size to lick the beater (which, nowadays, you're not supposed to do, since raw cookie dough can kill you, don't know how I lived through childhood in the 70s!). And, lastly, I had to wipe down the entire machine, since it was covered with flour dust (and batter from my stupidly removing the bowl).Final thoughts: The KitchenAid was heavy duty enough to make cookie dough all the way through, though I did have to hand-finish the chips and M&Ms. My GE stand-mixer is also 5 qts, so they both have the same capacity (just not strength). I found the KitchenAid awkward to use - though it was my first time with it and hopefully I learned from the first time (don't remove bowl when paddle has dough on it!), also which paddle to use for what. This includes the mixer, bowl, wire-whisk (which clearly says to NOT place in dishwasher), paddle, dough-hook, and pour-shield, as well as the meat grinder attachment. I'm pleased with the price I paid on the one day sale (no way would I ever pay the non-sale price for this of almost $500, $200 more than the mixer without the meat grinder). There is obviously a learning curve to using this!

Great mixer
I had the 6qt kitchen aid mixer but it wasn't a tilt head model. So I purchased the Artisan Tilt-Head Stand Mixer. I love it, much easier to work with. Just the right size also.

Works fine
I finally treated myself to a KA stand mixer and have used it numerous times since my purchase. I haven’t used the food grinder yet but may try it to finely grind nuts for holiday cookies. Love the red color and the price was reasonable for the product.

Bought two for my girl’s and they love them
Mine has a spring and these ones did not. My daughter’s said they work fine without the spring. It does make a clunk noise occasionally, but that’s it. Mine with the spring makes a clunk noise if I’m mixing something thick like bread dough. I couldn’t have found a better price anywhere. I’ve had mine since about 2010 and It’s my most used appliance.
