Nourish Me Home: 125 Soul-Sustaining, Elemental Recipes

Wow. I have a lot of cook books but this is my favorite by far.
Best cookbook I've ever had, hands down! THANK YOU for writing it! It's the only cookbook that I am reading cover to cover like a novel. She takes cooking to the next level. If you are trying to connect more to the earth and the elements and the seasons and cook and live with intention, this is the most valuable cookbook you will ever find. But even if you don't give a crap about spirituality or connecting with the earth but you love cooking with home-grown/farmers market/in season vegetables to make uniquely delicious meals where the vegetables are the star, you still need this book. Delicious recipes, beautiful photos and commentary. Substitute vegetables for each of the four seasons so you can make any dish in any season with seasonal vegetables was also a big plus. I'm just blown away. The only thing that could be a con is that these are not crazy simple basic recipes, it is like her tartine book, a recipe might call for fermented carrots and you have to go to another recipe in the book to make the one element that goes into the recipe you are making, but it is ALL worth it! Not for someone looking for quick easy meals. Perfect for the slow food movement and mindfully creating exquisite meals. So blown away, I think this is my first review of anything ever. Wow.

It’s tasty, flavorful recipes. This book is a deep knowledge and flavor GEM.
It’s right where I am at. Fermenting, pickling, nutrition maximization, and flavor. It’s a dream of a book and turns out it’s gluten free recipes. Beautiful photos. It’s a ten star ⭐️ for me. ❤️ You will need specialty flours which I was already stocking.

Really neat book filled with produce-centered recipes
This is a really neat book filled with produce-centered recipes. Some are foundation recipes to create ingredients that should have you inspired, while others are fantastic stand-alone recipes. We’ve loved everything we’ve tried so far.My thoughts and pics of the recipes we’ve tried:*Chilled early harvest apple soup – p 31. This is delicious. Spiced apples, beets, fennel, potato and leeks with a little bacon garnish.*Mom’s pot roast – p 163. This is a great pot roast. She introduces tons of flavor in the rub and then has you slowly braise it in the oven.*Black seeded bread – p 242. Love. There’s no grains in this. It’s just a nutritional powerhouse of seeds and eggs. It’s very Earthy and dense. I made hummus and tabbouleh to go with it.*Orange eggs with pumpkin, kale, and saffron – p 125. Everyone loved this. Butternut squash, onion, and kale baked in eggs. There’s no dairy in this. Just tons of produce and eggs.*100% fruit syrup – p 200. Fabulous. I usually make fruit syrup by letting it simmer away on the stove. This hands-free version is a game changer. I tossed it in the dehydrator at night and it was ready for my pancakes in the morning. It’ll be great in salad dressings and drinks, too.*Root vegetable fritters with farmer’s cheese sauce – p 97. These are delightful and definitely on the spicy side! It's just one serrano pepper, but wow!*Whole roasted cauliflower with turmeric butter – p 103. Three out of four of us thought this was really yummy. She's a really strong flavorist (love that), but I might actually dial it back a little next time. Some others I have flagged to try: Sprouted lentil salad with harissa vinaigrette – p 75 * Beet salad with parsnip skordalia – p 81 * Ice pops – p 227 * Seeded herb cracker – p 232 * Light as a feather brown bread – p 241 * Fig leaf drink – p 275 * Smoked orange and artichoke drink*I received a copy to explore and share my thoughts.

what r u looking 4 within a cookbook?
tips and tricks you might not thought of before??! i am not the greatest cook, but i enjoy trying and growing my skills. i prefer baking over cooking ... but i will continue to try. a healthier cookbook. idea. thoughts there. what always gets me ... PICTURES ... give me more the better in a cookbook ... i wanna know what i am making, what it might look like? this book really gives you colorful eye pleasing views. "125 soul - sustaining, elemental recipes". i am not saying there are not meat recipes "lamb", "pork steaks", ...but the majority are very heavy VEGGIE recipe. which i totally appreciate. you got me with "simplest solutions for rounding out a quick meal" (love that!) you know what i have always heard but never thought about it, maybe it is just me ... but cooking is love, a lot of cookbooks (chefs) speak on this ... i mean i get it ...but i never considered food = love? i mean it takes time, energy, effort and caring abilities to make it happen. so i guess in all areas it really is LOVE. hello. wake up call. i get it. i see and understand now. kind of like measurements ... not that this book did that ... i had that maybe 2 years ago ... i've never been one who got math ... i just did measurements with the help of go over and over ... but now i get it ... like the "light blub" went off and i got it ... i think we all have moments in our lives that the "light bulb" goes off and i think the cook book is really written and laid out so well. and it is a hard back book, thank you book heavens, that makes Beth very happy. i won this in a Goodreads giveaway and i love that. i love a good cook book. don't you? gorgeous raised text on the front flap. well done details. maybe you are one who gets the "water signs".. "water, fire, earth, air, aether". i know a wee bit ...for you folks who get that and understand it extremely well this might be the perfect gift for you or some1 you love most. i think that this time of being at home and baking and cooking (maybe even more than before) you will really enjoy this read. a time to plan and create. your family, kids, friends ... will love that. and i am going to finally try to make a poached egg ... i can do that. right?? are you one who eats fish? this is a huge section for that. i only wish my hubby would try them. silly man. do you enjoy pickling? a new hobby?? infused oil. oil preserving. i really appreciate the "seasonal variations" .. you never know what your area might be like ... options are great. alchemy. i hope with time that the world will go to having more items available for folks, maybe u have those connections. but sometimes the outlaying communities don't have all these items to use in cooking (baking). i recall when i wanted to make hummus ...i had to get "tahini". maybe you have Whole Foods (Aldi, Target) on your corner ...not me .. country living is the best. maybe you can stock up?? i am thinking of another authors cookbook, i did pass on her book because the same thing did happen ... not all items were available ...might be great to have yet again a suggestion of what to use instead of??!

Nourishing food only for experienced & with time to spare
I find this cooking book too difficult to use. All the recipes make you mouthwatering but I find them too complicated to even start them cooking.I believe will be of good use only for experienced cooks which have the time & are crazy for healthy and tasty food.
