i like this book, I misunderstood when I read it and it said moms big book of baking, I didn't realize it meant a mom with kids in todays world. I thought it meant like my mom and I'm 60 years old.. But, its a really nice book so don't let that intimate you. I want to bake and have baked since I was 12 years old but I don't want the complicated stuff thats out there today. My mom baked and have baked and produced many great things through the years, and am known as the best baker in my family. Things don't need to be complicated to turn out right. I had purchased the baking bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum I ended up returning it. its way too complicated and not necessary and who has that kind of time, even when you are retired? I didn't like the bleached flour she had wanted to use for everything either. I love this book because its simple, and its clear cut and very good. I haven't given it 5 stars as yet because I need to test some of the recipes. I am confused about the angel food cake because she says to use cold egg whites and everywhere else it has always said room temperature so that will be something to try see if it works for me or not. But over all I really like this book. simple clear cut and to the point, whether you have kids or not at home. I wish I had this when my kids were small!

I collect baking cookbooks and I have many. This book is one I reach for often. There are a few of my favorite recipes in here. The White Birthday Cake Frosting is the BEST! I make it all the time and always get raves about it. There is also a Raspberry Cheesecake Bar Recipe that is to die for! I give this book only 4 stars because there are recipes in this book that I think are not that great. I bake frequently (a least a few times a week) and therefore I'm pretty familiar with recipes that work and ingredients that work. The recipes that are not that great are few though. No matter what cookbook you buy, you can always expect to like only so many of the recipes either due to personal opinion or the fact that it just might not be a good recipe. I recommend this book if you like good old fashioned baking. Lots of easy recipes and classic recipes. It's inexpensive and has tons of recipes.

I had checked this book out from our library and then couldn't find it again. Made several of the recipes from the book and they were all really good. So glad I found it here and now have my own copy. The chocolate chip cookies made with melted butter is one of my favorite recipes in the book. What's even better is that all the recipes use ingredients that you are most likely to already have. Great book to have on hands if you have children!!

My daughter learned how to bake from this book and she ended up as a contestant on Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network. These are great, simple, easy to follow recipes that are perfect for tweens baking on their own.

Not only are the recipes clear and easy to follow but the "hints and tips" are always good to learn or refresh yourself on ways to make baking easier and less worrisome. The book was in very good condition and delivered in almost no time at all. If you love to bake, this is a fun book!

I checked out this book from the library and was inspired to buy it, I had to have my own copy! My favorite recipe is the blueberry muffins with the crumb topping, so easy to whip up. My 14 yr. old daughter loves to use the book often and surprises us with delicious treats. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to bake, specially with such easy, delicious recipes.

This book is indexed nicely and contains recipes that are easy to prepare. The spiralbound feature makes it easy to use the book without damaging the binding. Pictures are nicely done.

My hardcover went missing and I was heartbroken. I've used the chocolate chip cookie recipe for 9 years. So of course I had to buy the digital version. It will never be lost again!

The recipes always work and are tasty. We've been using this for years and just got a copy for my daughter, who is moving out. Cannot go wrong with this book for family favourites.

I love this book! I own over 30 cookbooks and this one is the the most used and most loved. The recipes are idiot proof, the ingredients are not something I have to look up in a dictionary first, and most importantly, the resulting cakes, cookies and desserts are yummy and satisfying.A great big thank-you to Lauren Chattman! :)A very grateful Mom in Luxembourg, Europe.
