Nice light but the rotary dimmer switch failed - UPDATED
UPDATE:You can read what I previously posted as it is educational with respect to the light. HOWEVER, this light is the brightest (lumens) of its type and KIRKAS is the only vendor making it. I DID like it enough to purchase another one. The vendor also contacted me about the problem, and had sent a brand new replacement, not just parts or send it in for repairs. All of this happened in a very timely and friendly manner - basically it has been an excellent customer service experience for me and everything resolved beyond expectations. As a result, I have updated my review and rating to 5 stars and 100%. It just doesn't get better than this. Highly recommended. In many respects it's not a bad light, but as other reviewers have noted, the construction is a bit flimsy and the clamp finicky although the good point is it can be screwed to the surface for guaranteed stability. My main complaint is that the rotary on/off dimmer switch started to fail after about a year in use. The light blinks off, you have to fiddle with the rotary switch until it decides to work again. It's gotten to the point where it happens every time I use it and for the most part it doesn't work until it decides it wants to come on again. The bad part about this is lighting is the main, daily feature of the lamp. It is a lamp first and foremost, with the handy feature of the magnifier which I also use often - but not as often as I use it for illumination of my work desk. So I might try fiddling with the rotary switch to see if I can get it to work, even if not dimmable, but when I do have to order another light, it won't be another one of these. I might as well try to see if another brand will last longer.Update 7 Aug 2023: One of my many hats is that of an electrical/electronics engineer, so I took the lamp apart to investigate the fault in the rotary dimmer switch. It appears to be a faulty solder joint or broken wire in the transformer soldered onto the circuit board but nothing that is visible, even with the magnification lens of the lamp. It's not worth the effort to take the circuit board apart, so I ordered a new lamp from a different manufacturer. I'll probably keep this one but install in in another location where the lamp is not required as the primary function. It's unfortunate as the 24 watt illumination capacity is not a common spec for mag lamps like these. Very disappointing.

Works just like you'd think
My wife is a crafting fiend and she loves it. Her favorite is the magnifying and the adjustable arm and dimmable lighting.

Good little light
Replaced an older led light that started blinking on me. This one is built better that the older one and has a better magnifier on it. I work on micro processor boards, so the magnifier is important. I like the adjustable brightness. Some lights only have two settings - too dim, or too bright or none at all.The only problem is the cover for the magnifier is loose. If I want to look at some thing at an angle, the cover doesn't stay up out of the way. That lost the star.

Bright, sturdy attachment, large lens!
Purchased the 5x version. Had a 10x of a different brand but the focal distance was too close to the lens. I use it to port cylinders and the 5x focal distance makes anything about 12inches away look like it’s right in front of the lens. Also the magnification is clear and the lens is large enough it won’t make you cross eyed. Over all I’m very happy. Just need to see if it holds up but for 40$ if it last a year or two I’d be happy!

Great Light, Worth the Extra $$$$
I repair electronic devices for a living and with my advancing age, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. This product far surpasses the two other products I've previously used. This product may cost almost twice the other two products I've used in the past, but the quality, and utility of this product by far makes up for it. This product is well built and sturdy it has a dimmable light that allows you do adjust the brightness to better see the boards I repair without casting shadows and hiding trouble spots.I do recommend this product over others I've used before that were cheaply made and failed in a matter of months rather than years. In the long run you will save money.

Very nice Hobby Light/Magnifier
Light goes as bright as you need it to, magnifier works great for all my RC hobbies. Some say the clamp comes loose, so I found another way to mount the light. I have a workbench with 3/4 plywood top, and a 2x4 outer frame on the bottom, and it's up against the wall. I simply drilled a 15/32 hole in the work bench in the center, at the rear, about 2-1/2 from the edge. The hole goes through the plywood, and into the 2x4. Now forget the clamp and push the round end of the Magnifier/light into the hole. Now your light is centered, and swivels where you want it to, and it gives a good reach forward as well. I even put a hole at front of the work bench, so I can bring large items that won't fit on top of the work bench, near work bench, and the light/magnifier reaches way out. if you have a thin wooden work bench, you can actually drill the hole in it anyplace you want, and simply screw a small piece of 2x4 under the work bench at the desired location, as a backer for the thickness so you can drill your hole for the light. You are welcome :)

Save your money, low quality!!
Save your money, when it is listed as an Amazon choice item, I would assume that it has some quality to it. This is made in China and it meets all the stereotypes of products that you would assume. It is incredibly low quality, the steel is hard to describe how thin it is. I really wish Amazon would do a better job of vetting the manufacturers and making sure that if they're going to say it's an Amazon choice product it actually is a good quality product. This makes me doubt all the other items that they say are Amazon choice or preferred.Sometimes it's just better to save your money and to spend more money on a better made product unfortunately there were not any better options on Amazon that I could find. Maybe these tariffs on China will actually kickstart the US manufacturing base so we can start getting quality products again.
