Wish I'd Known Beforehand — Buyers Beware!
After the first test run the device worked fine and ejected the discs without issues. The next few times I tried to use this Cisasily Ext Drive/Player it would not recognize the discs and worse, would not eject them at all! I had to go onto You Tube to find a tip on how to force quick an Ext drive to get the discs out. I'm on a fairly new iMac desktop so it wasn't my computer.Because I rarely play/use DVDs and CD on my studio computer (that doesn't have a built in optical drive) I didn't discover this issue with this device until December. I got this drive over the summer so it's too late to return it.I wouldn't get this drive. They say you get what you pay for and it's too true in this case. When I get another iMac for my office it won't have an internal player so I'll have to get an external DVD drive for that one and it will NOT be this product/brand!

After some time it began to fail.
I mostly use it to read very old CD's to recover data, but sometimes I use it to write data. And there is the problem. Mostly works fine, but after a fourth burning it damage the disk is writing, making it unusable. In those cases I use the data and power cable to make sure it works right.The unit become hot to the touch, and doesn't recognize any disk until I let it cool for a while.

So bummed!
I’m so bummed that this didn’t work for me! It looked like the perfect thing for my situation. I just got a new MacBook Air with the USB-C ports and this reader had the right plug. Also this is nice and small and lightweight. Said it worked with Apple products - just pretty much plug and play. Well, I tried everything. Checking my settings, watching YT videos for pointers, still - my MAC doesn’t recognize this reader. Did I just get a defective one? Do these have to be reformatted for MAC? So disappointed! Back it goes. 🙁

Waste of money
After reading the reviews I thought I would try it anyway. This is the cheapest thing I’ve ever bought. I have to eject it with a paper clip, it does work if you’re desperate. Don’t waste your money

No download needed. Just plug it in and use it!
The DVD drive is so perfect for me! It is pretty straight forward. I took it out of the box and plug it in to download my quickbooks. I didn't even need to read any instructions because it was fairly self explanatory. By the way I am currently using a lenovo ideapad S340 and this laptop doesn't have any cd drive. I haven't had any issues with this portable cd drive. The good thing about this is..you can use this with various computers, desktop or any other laptop. The drive is small you can fit it in any small bag. It has the same thickness as my ideapad. It is not heavy and it has small rubbers on four edges at the bottom so it won't slip and slide on your table.

Easy to use and Works perfect!
Workes perfect! I bought this external DVD drive for my computer that I recently bought - because the computer didn't come with an internal DVD driver. Not sure how I missed that little tid bit when buying the computer, but yeah. This external drive works perfectly and was easy to just plug & play. I watched a couple movies on it so far - and listened to my CD's while working on the computer - without any issues at all. no skips, no drag at all. it is lightweight and can be easily stored away when not in use.
