I'm a guy, and I loved this video! Great Date Night Movie!
I'm a guy, and I loved this video! lol. It was so hilarious as anyone, even guys, can relate to the reverse: How nervous it was when trying to talk to that girl you liked, realizing the girl for you may be someone different. The lead actress totally nailed it - the comedic timing, jeez - the whole cast is awesome!! I busted a gut. She has feelings for, and develops a plan with a friend, to win the guy she is too nervous to talk to - just like how us guys are paranoid of the hottest chick! lol, brings back memories.I so thought this was going to be a Mean Girls rip off with Disney or Hallmark-Christmas-movie-even-though-its-not-set-at-Christmas acting but it so wasn't. My wife laughed out loud - her for the acting and me for the "oh I remember first trying to talk to that girl I sat next to...then MORTIFIED when she found out I had a crush on her"Guys - your girl makes you sit through this, you're in luck - you wont hate it, and you'll even laugh.Ladies - prepare to be taken back in time when you tried everything to get "that cute boy" to notice you.

An Amusing Surprise
If you're looking for something new in a movie, well I would recommend never going near another high school movie again, but if you are interested in this and don't mind the typical tropes of a High School coming of age story I urge you to take a gander and here's why. There are a lot of things to enjoy, one of the initial drawing points for me was Ken Jeong from Community who plays a funny, but quite sensible Newspaper...advisor? Bella Thorne does a wonderful job at the stereotypical love to hate mean girl, but she is the most glaring trope of the movie, as Mae Whitman's two gorgeous best friends are delightfully like-able, intelligent, and understanding throughout the whole flick. Robbie Amell is a nice blend of smart talking and jock that works at loosening up Mae Whitman's stressed out and overly sensitive persona over the course of the movie. This movie is silly, bordering on over the top in one scene in particular, but otherwise just seems to be keenly self aware of itself in a world with a lot of teenage focus movies. It has some clever lines, had me uttering more than just the occasional giggle, and is fun modern take on the High School classic.

Classic "Ugly Duckling" Teen Flick
Bianca (B) is living a normal, uneventful teen-aged life, until her former friend and neighbor, Wesley, makes her aware of the role she plays in high school. She is... The DUFF: The Designated Ugly Fat Friend. At that moment, she realizes that the 'normal' life she had been living was all a lie. She was the DUFF to her two beautiful best friends, and her purpose in life was to make them look good--or so she thought. She hires Wesley to unDUFF her, by helping him with his science homework, and soon realizes that there was more to being the DUFF than she had imagined. This has all the elements of a classic "Ugly Duckling" teen flick, and will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride! Bianca is a lovable MC who is easy to root for, and you can't help but fall in love with Wesley, as well. And even though it follows a formulaic teen movie script, it's still a great "feel good" flick, and a must-see!

Well acted movie
Mae Whitman did a great job as usual. For me, that is mostly what made it a great movie. The plot was at its root a standard teen movie. The 'mean girl' could have toned it down a little. And Wesley (Armell) could have woken up sooner about who he should be with (not a spoiler, it's a teen romance movie after all)....but then there would not have been a movie I suppose! Take it for what it is and enjoy Mae's performance.

"Before we had emoticons, we had real facial expressions." LOL you must see this movie!!!!
This had to be the cutest little movie that. When I first saw the trailer for this film, I immediately thought they were trying to recreate Mean Girls, those deathless lines from Mean Girls instantly popped into my head; Stop trying to make "DUFF" happen, it isn't going to happen. Also, I can't stand the teens of today, but the did bring up those timeless teen drama movie classics. However I was so wrong. Mae Whitman is so much more talented than Lindsay Lohan (im shocked to say this, it took me a minute to remember her name...brain fart). Kept laughing through out the entire movie, they had really good quick witted humor. Also, a lot of "awww" moments. Although, this movie was totally predictable; I enjoyed watching. Now i must read the book, I heard it was better.

Fantastic! Perfect for fans of teenage comedies!
I absolutely LOVED this movie! I'm a huge fan of the book, and while they did change an awful lot, I still really enjoyed it. The heart of the story itself is still the same, and the actors all did an amazing job at bringing these characters to life!I'd definitely recommend The DUFF to fans of the book, but I also think it's the perfect story for anyone who enjoys teenage comedies. The DUFF is funny, easy to relate to, and packed with an absolutely AMAZING cast!

I really enjoyed this movie and am hoping that my daughter who is 10 will get something from it re: that bullying in one form or another does happen to everyone and that you can get through it. Good movie but not super fierce in the message and story line. I would recommend it to others.
