It Works!
Thus far, I've bought two of these primarily due to an overly curious dog. You see, anything that I plant at dog-level gets uprooted and chewed on. This planter is too high for her to reach, and thus far, she has left it alone (2 months and counting. Wish me luck).Since I am using Cloth Grow "Pots", I am not actually filling the planter with soil. Instead, it fits several of the cloth pots, and some of my tools. When it rains, I the cloth pots "leak" into the planter, and everything escapes through the bottom hole.I plan to have a stainless steel milk jug in a crate tied down under neath it, so I can collect the water for my grass or other plants. Just word to the wise, if you have dogs or little kids, be sure not to use glass or ceramics to collect the water. The curious dog learned that ceramics shatter... the human learned the hard way.The construction of the planter is a thick plastic. It's very easy to assemble. I love that. There's literally no tiny parts to deal with. Think of it like Legos. There's four legs that pop easily into the underside of the planter. Then there's a plate that pops into each of the four legs. Done! I use a hammer to "tighten" the tab at the end of the legs after sliding it in. It helps keep the planter even. I also clip a net over my planter to keep bugs and critters out.Great height. Great product. Great price.

Great for keeping orchids off patio! Support American-made!
I've been looking for something like this for a very long time. I keep potted orchids on my patio and frequently bend over constantly to water them or re-arrange them, or to look for slugs as a few number of them have eaten my orchid leaves. I told my husband I would craft a waist-high table out of wood but never had the time to make anything of the sort. I'm not even handy, but my intentions were good.Along comes Adams Manufacturing to answer my dreams! I've read other negative reviews stating that the depth of the planter is not good for a vegetable or flower garden, so I can't comment about growing anything in the planter itself, but for my needs in keeping my plants off the patio and away from the slugs, this is heaven sent! The depth is actually perfect, and for my hanging Dendrobium Anosum, it still is a bit too deep, so I put plant saucers turned upside-down under those pots.PROS:- Made in the USA!- very sturdy but lightweight enough to lift if not laden down with water/plants- very affordable- perfect for the patio and limited spaces- great for hanging plants that you can't hang anywhere else- an added lower shelf for supplies, equipment, potting supplies or more plants!CONS:- the drain/plug hole is small and the bottom of the planter is not sloped down to allow water to drain unless you physically tip the planter. I have humidity-loving orchids, so some standing water on the bottom isn't a bad thing.- the drain plug did not fit securely in the hole, it did not make a tight seal, but it didn't matter to me since I wasn't using the plug.Other reviews have stated that they hated the cheap, shiny finish but I actually like it because I can wipe it dry and clean. I live in an area prone to mold and mildew, and a textured or rougher surface would attract mold and unwanted moss.I loved my planter so much that I ordered two more...I now own three and looking forward to ordering more Adams Manufacturing products in the future!Support USA-made products and companies!

Really nice planter
My wife and I have been looking for a planter that we could keep off of the ground as rabbits always enjoyed out herbs more than we did. This planter has plenty of room for several plants, is well elevated and the drain plug is awesome. My only problem is that it should have optional dividers to keep the plant roots separated. Other than that, it is very sturdy, robust and strong. the brown matches our decor on the patio and it looks good. I recommend it to anyone looking for an elevated planter.

Getting More of These Planters Soon
I put this planter on my front porch where the sun beats mercilessly and wired it to the rails so the dogs couldn't knock it over. I wasn't worried about drainage because our early springs are wet and a little cool but our late springs (starting in mid-April) and summers are hot and everything dries out in my front yard. Filled it with potting soil and threw some lettuce and scarlet runner bean seeds in it in mid-March. The lettuce would bolt and be done by the heat of mid-May when the beans would take off - the beans would need watering faithfully but I put them in the corners,, and I added a Portulaca flower in a spot towards the front away from the beans because it loves hot weather and would take over as the lettuce came out, but doesn't require much water so needed to be apart from the beans.Well, the weather has been crazy this year and it is late May and my yard is a swamp from rain and it is not even going to hit 60 degrees today, which to me is way too cold for this time of year. I ended up popping the drainage plug out of the bottom of this, which I had not expected I would have to do, and at first I thought there was no way that would be enough drainage. However, it has worked beautifully, and all three plants have come along beautifully despite needing different growing conditions - there is enough space in the planter to accommodate the watering variance. I am so pleased.I love the shelf underneath where I can put terra cotta pots with plants that love morning sun but also love afternoon shade. The best thing is the height - not only does it save my back, it is easier to keep seeds and weed clippings out of it.I plan to get more for herbs for my kitchen garden. I will continue to place them along fences or supports where I can wire them- between dogs, crows, and the winds we get across my yard, I won't feel secure that they won't tip over unless I do.Very, very, very happy with this planter.
