Yes it does stretch but is a bit different than the rubber bands. First of all this strap will not slap as a rubber band will when over-stress and i think most important it will not pinch your skin or burn your hands when you are going for the long poses. You should give it a try :)

Hi Juntjoo, please let me clarify this for you. The dimensions you wrote above are for the packaging. The strap it self is 55 inches (140 cm) long when non stretched with 1.2 inches (3 cm) wide. For what we tested yes. I don't think that it can stay under water but I think that it cansurvive a raining day with no worries.
