STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT BUY THIS AQUARIUM HEATER!Cooked $1,000 worth of beautiful Saltwater Fish, Inverts and Corals at a near boiling 102.5 Degrees!! EVERYTHING DIED OVERNIGHT. I went to bed at 1am and everything was fine, woke up at 8am and EVERYTHING WAS DEAD and the water was 102.5 Degrees. This thing literally malfunctioned and turned my Saltwater Aquarium into crawfish boil in just 7 hours. The heater setting doesn't even go that high! I want a full refund of the money I spent on this disaster of a heater and I should be compensated in some kind of way. Amazon should take this thing down immediately. The Heater was sizzling when and I took it out of the water and couldn't even sit it down any where becuase it practically on fire. Had to throw this thing in tub of cold water to get it to cool down. Whatever you do, Do Not Buy This Thing!!

This product is TERRIBLE!!!It has been set at 78° since purchase.Cam home after work yesterday and the fish were all dead because the heater malfunctioned and COOKED my fish...water temp was almost 100°

This is a great heater period. I purchased this for my S. American cichlid aquarium and in the meantime I purchased a 50 dollar heater from Petco. The day before I switched my fish to the new bigger tank I placed both heaters in to get the water up to Temp quickly. Well the next day is here and I removed the vivosun heater and my temperature dropped faster than Hillary deleting emails. Pulled the expensive heater out and could hear it was broken. Put this nice looking ceramic covered heater with remote temperature control back and boom temperature rebound like Trump's economy. I'm going to order two more of these as backups because heaters often fail but this thing made my new cichlid tank great again.Update just received my third heater. Gradually switching all my aquariums to this. My 12 inch Oscar hasn't even broken the one in his tank and he's the most clumsy fish I have.

Caution fire hazard shock hazard do not buy!!!!!!!!!One electrified the water and I was shocked and the other one stayed on when water level dropped and it started burning.

Right out of the box the pamphlet says "heater is a consumable, change after one year." That lets you know right away that the standard of quality is low and it is not meant to work for longer than a year. But, the reason I hate it is because the little box for setting the temperature is smack in the middle of the cord. Not up towards the end where the heater goes into the tank and can be easily accessible. Not towards the plug end where it could also be easily accessible. Nope, it's smack in the middle of a 6 foot cord, precisely where it would hide behind the cabinet so as it cannot be read or adjusted. Do yourself a favor and stick with with you know and the products you've always relied on. Don't experiment with "new-fangled" models, rarely do they ever turn out to be as good as they're cracked up to be.

Was thinking this was the perfect fit, worked for a week no problem/ loved the digital thermostat on the front , until it broke today and killed several of our fish, only one week plugged in and was doing fine and out of no where it overheated the tank, it said 71 degrees in the digital so we thought got too cold but when I reached in the water was extremely warm. Pretty bummed lost our favorite Fire Eel and several other older fisher

When I first got this heater I placed it into my tank, completely submerging it as the directions said. I plugged it in and it started blinking E1. That wasn't a good sign. The directions don't say what to do, only that E1 means "If the metal temperature detector was exposed in the air the product will show error code "E1" and "E1: Water shortage or wrong installation." I thought I had bought a dud, but I decided to set the temperature and see what happened. I'm glad I did because the temperature in the tank climbed steadily. All the while the heater was blinking the temperature and then E1 with a red light. When it got up to temp the light changed to blue and the E1 error code went away.My Oscar fish is happy now since his water is warm again (his old heater broke) and the heater is performing perfectly. If this heater lasts at least a year I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Digital temperature easy to program using button attached to the cord. Taking heater out of tank or putting hand in water not needed for temperature adjustment. Just place heater in tank for 20 minutes to equalize water temperature with heater before plugging in, the heater display is the water temperature. To adjust the heater temperature, just keep pushing button until desired temperature is reach, then stop. Will buy again.

The instructions sheet states, "The aquarium heater is consumables, we suggest to change the heater after you've used it over 1 year." I've had aquarium heaters working for more than 20 years. To have the expectation that these will last one year is absolutely terrible.If you read the reviews and details, you'll see that the ratings are for a different product. Looks like they bait and switched the post.UPDATE 3 MONTHS LATER: The heater's controller burst into flames in the middle of the night. It melted the unit, and if we weren't woken by the smell of burning plastic and made it with the fire extinguisher when we did, we wouldn't have just lost equipment - but likely the whole house.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Does not even work right out of the box just flashes E1 trying to tell me that it's not in the water or installed correctly. I tried unplugging it for half hr, made sure there were no air bubbles in the cap etc etc, and just flashes E1...... Figures, as I needed it asap. I do not recommend.

It was working fine... great, in fact. Now 7 mos later, it is showing the temp, and my tank sits at 70 degrees. There is no heat coming out of it whatsoever. This is really disappointing, and I'd say save your money and buy something that's going to last. If the company contacts me about replacement, I'll update this review.UPDATE: The company was prompt in refunding my money, and I'm very appreciative of this. I don't want to do this again in 7 mos though, so I'm not sure I'll be ordering another. It's unfortunate, as when it was working, it worked great! Thank you Vivosun.

Completely submerged. Waited 20 min. Plugged in. Error 1.Removed from aquarium. Let sit. Put back. Wait 20 min. Error 1.It didn't matter if the thing is fully submerged or not, it never worked.

My fish have never been more happier. It keeps the water temperature at the desired set point, and the temperature display is a nice feature. My last heater didn't have any indication and I was reading off a faulty digital thermometer that was out by 10 degrees - yikes! This heater works great and the water temperature is what is displayed. I agree, it does look good in the tank.Update: Heater did work great for about 1 year and 2-3 months, when I noticed the water temperature at 73 F. Put back my old Fluval that I've had for years, and it still managed to heat up the water. If you're into replacing this heater once a year (which I'm not) then it's fine. But I'll stick to the better more durable brands that last.
