Was easy to install
Purchased these to use on my dock for a 20ft Center console Angler on the Chesapeake Bay. Was easy to install, bolted to the dock after reinforcing the underside of the boards. I purchase the next size up just to be safe and I'm glad I did as it provides the extra support needed to stabilize in high winds and abnormal tides. Its does a great job at keeping my boat a safe distance from the dock. We have a tide fluctuation of 1-3 feet depending on the wind. Would highly recommend.

Well made, works well
Materials seem high quality and works well ok my 18 ft bass boat.. My only complaint is that the directions are a little confusing. Because my dock has billets, I had to remove 2 of the boards to install it

Unnecessarily challenging installation
Unnecessarily challenging installation...I replaced a pair of whips where one had broken. The Taylor whips use a bolt (that has to go all of the way through the dock plank) and is secured with a nut that is attached where the bolt penetrates through the deck plank. The whip it replaced used a lag screw that went through the dock plank and into the dock-equivalent of a joist that runs below the deck planks. That meant that I had to position the attachment point well inland of the "joist" and then reach under the dock to line up the nut with the bolt. From a kayak (wading was not an option) that proved to be quite a challenge. I managed to get all of the nuts attached (and tightened) without having to make a trip to West Marine to replace a lost nut. (Fortunately, the nuts I dropped all fell into my kayak.)Now that they're in, the whips work fabulously. But surely Taylor-Made Products can afford to include both lag-screw and through-bolt hardware with this product.
