Last year, I discovered Karen Kingsbury's books and I'm bound and determined to read as many of them as I can! I've read some of her standalone novels and different series but my favorite is the series about the Baxters. As soon as I read my first Karen Kingsbury book, I was hooked and wanted to read more about this beautiful family! I read the Redemption series last year and am continuing on with the Firstborn series, which is next in the series order.Dayne Matthews is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. He's got the looks, fame, fortune, and the lifestyle that goes with it. The one thing that he's missing and that he longs for is a family. After discovering a major secret about his life, he longs to be with the family who would give him that love and comfort he desires.Katy Hart is the director of Christian Kids Theater (CKT) in Bloomington, Indiana. She loves her work and feels she is right where God wants her to be. When an opportunity she has been longing for her entire life is presented to her, she has to consider if it's worth it because of some horrific events in her past with that lifestyle.After taking a bit of a break and reading some other books, it was great to be with the Baxters again! I had forgotten some events but I was able to pick up where I left off. I love that these books are clean and wholesome, with good values, and focus on God. The characters regularly pray and refer to Scripture while the books maintain a contemporary fiction feel.There is an order in which the Baxter series books were written and I personally feel it is in a reader's best interest to read them in order so you can more easily understand the flow of events. The series order is: Redemption, Firstborn, Sunrise, Above the Line, and Bailey Flanigan. If you are new to the Baxters, start with Redemption.I love the Baxters and have already started Forgiven! This is a series you definitely don't want to miss!

I purchased this to continue my series with the Baxter family. I normally do my intense reading while on vacation or riding long distances in the car. I’m excited to add this to my library.

This book and this series was something that I so enjoyed. The story pulls you into the family and the trials that they go through, you can relate to them. Through this book and series, I was reminded of all the awesome things that God can do in our lives, and even when they don't turn out the way we want them, God is still loving us and in control. I read all 14 of the Baxter books in 30 days and was so sad when I finally finished the last book. However, I have moved on to the "Above the Line" series and it is nice that we still get peeks of the Baxter family. I had borrowed several of these books from the library when I was reading them, but I think that I will actually end up buying them for my Kindle so I can read them again. It's definitely a keeper and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who are going through tough times and need to be reminded of the hope in Jesus Christ.

I was thrilled to find that Karen has continued on with the Baxter family. The addition of Katy has been great. She has such desires for her work and struggles with the idea of fame/romance or the life that she leads right there in Indiana with the CKT kids. I love the fact that she always goes to God for the right answer and to lead her to her future. I truly believe that she will find the happiness in time that she deserves. I love Dayne........he has had such a heartbreaking life and is so torn between what he does and the family he wants to claim. I love the fact that he respects them enough to keep the press/photographers away from them and ruining their lives. It's a hard choice which shows his real character. I hope in time through this series that he finds the family that he so longs for. Can't wait to continue reading..........Karen is awesome and really hits at the heart of things and ALWAYS looks to God for the answers. Fantastic!

I first started reading The Baxter series with "Take One" and then the Bailey Flanigan series. "Fame" is about the long lost Baxter son Dayne Matthews a famous actor who is dealing with the problems of fame. He is trying to find an actress for his upcoming movie and is considering Katy Hart who he saw in Bloomington for the role. Katy is running CKT as a children's director and is unsure if she should try to pursue her dream of becoming an actress again. Dayne is also struggling with revealing his secret to the Baxter family about being their son. He doesn't want to ruin the family they have.The Baxter family is dealing with the loss of their mother as well as their own family problems. Their father John Baxter is dealing with grief as well as keeping the secret of them having anoher child from the rest of the family. Like most secrets it is bound to come out eventually. Dayne's appearance will have a dramatic effect on all of the Baxters.Since this is the first book of the series Karen leaves us with a lot of things unresolved. Some parts of the book tend to drag and make it uninteresting to read. One part of the book is scary for a Baxter book.It is interesting to read this book after knowing what is going to happen with Baxters and Katy and Dayne.

Excellent reading. Sequel to the Redemption series.
