1) The acrylic lens on the watch is soft and scratches easily; and
I was prepping for a 2-week backpacking trip in May when I ran across the Lad. I wanted an ABC watch, but I don't generally wear big watches and didn't want to pay a Suunto price for something that would likely sit on my bureau after the trip. Figured I'd take a chance on the Lad and, if it didn't work well, I wouldn't be out much coin. I evaluated it for two weeks before the trip and noted the thermometer was dead on (if the watch wasn't being worn), the compass was dead on, and the altimeter and barometer seemed to track perfectly. So, off it went with me for 2 weeks backpacking across Scotland. And, the watch rocked. On the train ride to our starting point I had my GPS displaying the relevant topo charts. Every time we reached an elevation point depicted on the topo, the watch was within 1 meter of the map. Later, we hiked with someone wearing a Suunto and my Lad outperformed his watch in a sense - his Suunto could only display altitude in 5-meter increments whereas the Lad displays 1-meter increments. So, at times, my watch was closer to the contour lines on the topo. The compass on the Lad was so accurate that I quit using the lensatic compass I brought with me. Could have left it behind and saved the weight. Two gripes I have: 1) The acrylic lens on the watch is soft and scratches easily; and, 2) the compass bezel performs no function and should be deleted. Get rid of the bezel and make the watch a bit smaller, and you'd have something more people would be comfortable wearing every day.Gripes aside, this is a great watch. Remarkably accurate and a heck of a bargain at its current price.

Strap broke and battery died in less than a month. (warranty is a sham)
Update: Turnouts out that the warranty on this watch is a huge joke. I was initially promised that it would take 7-10 business days to process my refund but, more than 4 months later, I still haven't got my refund. I have called customer service multiple times but no one seems to know why my refund is taking so long. The last concrete thing I heard was that my refund was approved but it will take a few WEEKS for my check to arrive in the mail. I have already written this off as a lost cause. This is BY FAR the worst I've ever had dealing with Amazon.Original review:I must have received a dud because my watch failed in every way possible. The watch worked fine out of the box. I was able to set the time and dates without any problem. After wearing it for a few weeks, I noticed that the altimeter wasn't calibrated properly. I tried resetting it but I realized the reset button wouldn't work. This led me to realize that I couldn't adjust any of the time settings either. I was disappointed but didn't want to go through the hassle of returning the watch. However, later that week, as I was doing a light jog, the buckle that fastened the watch straps together completely fell apart. That was the last straw and I called up Amazon to arrange a refund. The refund process wasn't difficult. The return window had already closed but Amazon provided 2 year warrantee on the watch. I made a 5 minute phone call and received a shipping label for the return shipping. I didn't get an instant refund because their policy dictates that a watch maker has to examine the watch to see if it's salvageable. The turn over time is expected to be a week.Just when I thought the watch couldn't fail any worse, the watch screen went completely blank as I driving to UPS to return it. That is, the watch completely died. So there you have it. In less than a month: the menu options stopped working, the strap broke and the battery died.

Some people have said the watch faces scratches easily and this is true
I have had the watch for two days. I wanted to do a test to see how accurate the sea level reading was over the course of 12 hours. I used the readings off the closet major airport website as reference. I did not wear the watch and it stayed at the same altitude. I used two phone apps and my wall barometer as reference point for the watch If you look at the vertical lines of my image it does seem to match the tendency quite well. I also discovered the air pressure will drift about 2/10th per day so you will have to roughly set the watch every week if you want more accurate readings. Some people have said the watch faces scratches easily and this is true. The temperature is not accurate (even when not wearing it) you will have to compensate for that and minus or add a few degrees to get an accurate reading, The compass is fair once you calibrate it and I find if you take a few steps while walking in a direction it will give you a better reading, The altimeter seems decent but will change daily due to the sea level pressure but as far as the measuring when ascending or climbing it does fairly accurate. When you are in altimeter or barometer mode and hold down Start/Stop it will allow you to set "Scan On" or "Scan Off". I have no ideal what this does since the manual does not explain this. If anyone knows then please let me know. Also, when you set your altitude you have a choice to also do sea level. You can't do both it's one or the other. I saw one person mention that he was trying to set it for 1600 and it dropped down to 300. He was trying to do both and that is not an option.

Good all round watch
I do a lot of camping equipment testing all year round,( lockdowns permitting). The temperature function is invaluable as I can access data on temperature changes during my overnight camps. Great watch.
