Someone's in the Kitchen with Dayton's, Marshall Field's, Hudson's Hardcover – January 1, 1992

Growing up shopping and eating at Dayton Hudson’s provides great memories. I can picture their various restaurants while reading thru their recipes. A Treasure of a cookbook!

This is the book I was hoping for. I grew up going to Hudson’s as a little girl & loved all the good food & now I can share it with my family. Beautifully illustrated & lots of history throughout the book. Love it!!

Beautiful book. So many really good recipes. I am not familiar with Dayton's food, but the recipes look really good I am most interested in the Marshall Field recipes because that was our neighborhood store. We didn't know how lucky we were to have this legendary emporium so readily available. The food at Fields from the food halls to the restaurants was uniformly excellent. How I would love to be able to go back.to those days! Maybe this book will take me there. I think it might.

This is kind of a fun book, especially if you are from Chicago. They have recipes from the Marshall Field & Co. Walnut Room. Many of us Chicagoans remember going to the Walnut Room, especially during the Christmas holidays after visiting Uncle Mistletoe in the store. There are also recipes from Dayton's and Hudson's department stores. Some of the recipes are good, such as "Andrew's Crab Cakes," Chicken Focaccia with Risotto Cakes," and, "Frango Triple Treat Chocolate Layer Cake" (yummy). But, some are strange, such as "Fried Rice," which starts with baking cooked rice in the oven for an hour (hmmm.); "Pesto Pasta," which doesn't tell how to make pesto but, instead, to purchase it; and, Waldorf Salad using Cool-Whip!" It's kind of a hodge-podge of recipes, good and not-so-good. But, it's fun for people who remember eating at the cafes at the different department stores.

Excellent book with lots of great recipes and memories from the Dayton Hudson's restaurants. If you remember your old favorites, you can find them here to make at home. Nice pictures and clear easy to follow recipes.

This does have some of the recipes from Marshall Fields glory days! Hudson’s as well.
