So, the good news is the prongs do fit in my key's circuit board. With a little bending . . . The bad news is my key doesn't work. Maybe I screwed up my soldering or overheated the circuit board; possible, but not likely. I am a reasonably skilled repairman. Most likely the battery had lost its charge (or never had a charge) Hopefully, my car will recharge the battery; the owner's manual claims this could take 30 hours. Time will tell . . .

First off, what was BMW thinking with this design?. It's half genius, half asinine but later models correct this so, rant over.You will need to cut the key open and glue it back together and you need to know how to solder. Youtube has the videos. At first it didn't work but after a 60 mile drive it charged up and has worked ever since. This is a great diy solution to a problem that shouldn't exist.

I was looking for a replacement rechargeable battery for the key fob for my 2003 BMW E46 330Xi and this fit perfectly. There is a minor soldering task involved with replacing the old battery. But, I found the simple unsoldering of the original battery and the soldering in of this new one to be fairly easy, using a simple inexpensive 'hobby' soldering iron.

This is a great product delivered fast. I used these batteries to replace the rechargeable batteries on my BMW E70 key fob. Saved $280 over dealership replacement. Did both keys. Basic soldering skills required. Works great.

Batteries possibly from a batch of old stock. No date stamp, no label to go by as far as age. Allowed batteries to charge while in use on vehicle for several days, but batteries are just DOA! Bought different brand batteries and they worked on the same keys right out of the box!

The batteries were deffective. when I opened the package the voltage on each one of them was 2.6 volts instread of 3 volts. I soldered one in place and charged it for 3 days on an induction charger which made no difference.
