Performance of Sony Xperia P unlocked android smartphone NXT series
The look and softwares are very good and so is their performance. However, the phone need to be recharged every few hours and this makes me dislike it as it embarases me sometime because by six to seven hours the phone is useless unless it is rechsrged. For this reason, i do not reSony commend others to buy this model. Unfortunately, there are now a total of 4 Xperia Sonny smartphones in the family and all have the same problem. I just learnt this after starting using it, otherwise i would not have bought it.

A few months later and still the best phone I've ever had
I had fast, excellent delivery and a few months on this is still the best phone I've ever had, the screen is incredibly bright, able to reproduce colours brilliantly. I've not had any major problems so fast and the speed of the phone is more than enough for me. It's physically very well designed and with the aluminium casing at a perfect size for your hand you feel like you're holding a very high quality phone with a lot of thought in it. This it even despite it being so light. Now Sony have released a android update to ice-cream sandwich the phone's better than ever as the operating system was what held it back in professional reviews when it first came out. This phone does have one serious drawback however.......battery consumption!! This phone eats though battery life like nothing you've ever seen but I am on my phone more than average I think. If you want the battery to last from the moment you leave the house to the end of the day (0800-1900) you'll maybe need to use every power saving method on it. The screen is fantastic....but that and the wireless internet is what eats through the power the most. 2 hours of mobile internet browsing would take maybe 50% of the battery, it may not seem like a lot but if you getting through your day and you have only 20%-30% battery left I would be worried, especially as my phone also has the tendency to drop from 10% battery to empty and turn off. This is due to Sony installing a lower power battery into this model of phone, it's what gives the phone it's fast recharge time. It is great how it can go from 10% to fully charged in an hour or 2........but because i'm out all day I tend to plug my phone in at night when I sleep which is generally a lot longer than 2 hours anyway making this feature not incredibly use full. I've got round this by having a charger in my work and at home to charge it to full in my lunch time so it can be worked around.....but I would really like more this exact phone just with a battery (even if it took 5 or 6 hours to charge when I slept) that actually lasted.

It does what was promised
I choose Xperia P mostly because of it`s size and the camera. I don`t like devices called phones but you actually need a backpack to carry and two hands to hold to your head so most of the newer models just fall out of the list.In general the phone has a quality feeling with the metal unibody and the bright screen. I especially like that it has a separate exposure button for the camera and the design is not the usual soap holder but something more unique. The phone itself knows everything what is expected from an Android phone. I did not use the built-in Sony applications as I had my own choice for those functionality so cannot comment on those. I did not experience any speed issues so far, but also I`m not on the gaming side so did not use any hardware intensive applications. The camera is good however struggling with photos making in a back lighted environment. Shutter speed and picture quality both good.I especially like the power saving mode which with light use (1-2 minutes call and <10 minutes wifi) last up to 4 days, while with moderate use last up till 2 days. So far I only found one environment the phone did no scope well. I was hiking without coverage and the phone exhausted itself less than 4 hours.Bottom line is: I like this phone and recommend it if you don`t need the newest and biggest model and don`t use powerhouse applications.

Xperia P: Great phone.
I bought this product quite a while ago now, and I am still impressed with how balanced it is; size for power, and power for price. The's processor is capable for most tasks, it's GPU is perhaps not as strong, but it's still good for all but the most demanding games and apps. It's display is gorgeous.Bright and sharp; but the brightness is met with a trade off of poorer colour reproduction; over all though I am impressed with it.The battery, unfortunately has too small a capacity. It's power saving features must be taken full advantage of to achieve a passable standby battery life.Only five hours can be expected from a full charge with heavy use of the phone.(gaming/videos)The camera is a very capable 8MP snapper producing good quality images above par for most phones.HD video capture is passable.Externally, the phone has a premium look an feel which Sony is only just starting to match again. It's comfortable to hold and suitable for one hand use.I would still recommend this phone even with it's weaknesses, which primarily is battery life.If you can live with a short battery life, you can't go wrong with this midrange phone. If the battery issue is not acceptable, I would recommend either the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini or, if you're willing to pay more, the Motorola Razr i; though I have not used either of these phones.

The right size!
The 4-inch screen on the Xperia P is just right for me, I can easily use it one-handed while I found the larger 4.3-inch Xperia S was a bit awkward. The metal back gives it a premium touch and it feels solid and well-built. The screen is easy to read outside at 100%, even on a bright day. I normally have it set at 50% to save battery. The 8Mp camera is excellent and seems better than that on my previous Xperia Neo. Calls are clear and the dialler has been improved over the Neo. Be aware it uses a micro SIM card.It currently runs Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread though Sony have promised an upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS, probably in August. I believe Sony's current customisation does use some ICS features. Unfortunately, there is a lot of bloatware taking up memory space which you can't easily get rid of. There is 11.2 Gb of internal storage plus about 1.5 Gb of phone memory. There's no way for expanding memory by a microSD card. The Xperia P is quite responsive to use but things like live wallpapers can cause a slight lag (and drain the battery!).Box contents are basic but there is a micro HDMI cable for connection to an HD TV. The phone has an NFC chip but there are no Smart Tags incuded. I bought a pack and have found them useful for quickly changing the profile of the phone.Β Sony NT1 Smart Tag Kit with 4 Xperia NFC Smart Tags for Android Battery life is about 1-2 days on normal use but spend time playing games, surfing the Net, watching videos etc. and it drains quite quickly. Like most smartphones, the battery never has enough capacity.Overall, I'm very pleased with my Xperia P- 5 stars. Sony NT1 Smart Tag Kit with 4 Xperia NFC Smart Tags for Android

Good looking but plagued with issues
I've been using Nexus phones for a while and thought I would change a bit so was attracted by this stylish Xperia P. The phone looks nice with a very bright screen that renders vivid colors. The build quality looks good at first sight but after a few weeks of use the transparent part and the lower part of the phone are starting to look like they're going to give up very soon. It's already a bit loose and flimsy. The android experience is ternished by the amount of bloatware that comes preinstalled and the bugs that appear and never go. I already had to reset the phone after only a few weeks of use because of wifi issues. That seemed to solve the problem but a few days later the bugs reappeared.Sony support is almost inexistant. Maybe the small number of buyers compared to other brands doesn't justify for them the cost of a real customer service...If you add to all of this the fact that the phone is still on android 4.0 ICS an OS that's more then a year old (an eternity in mobile world) then the conclusion is simple:AVOID!
