Mishimoto MMHOSE-E46-01IBK Silicone Intake Boot Compatible With BMW E46 3-Series 1999-2006 Black

I bought this intake boot for my 2002 M3 as they are supposed to smooth the air flow from the air box to the intake manifold.I received the item nearly two weeks after I ordered it, even though I was told it was in stock and available for next day delivery.That aside the quality of the pipe is poor. The thickness is well below what a silicone pipe should be of this size and the design needs refining as it does not fit correctly. On the airbox side it sits too far onto the box and on the intake side it sits at an angle and not flush.The other thing I enquired about, before buying the product, was whether I could reuse the jubilee clamps; I was told I could. I was able to reuse the clamp on the intake side (just!) but not on the airbox side of the boot as it needs a much bigger clamp.The poor quality of the boot is abundant when trying to fit. The inner edges of the boot were simply 'peeling' away leaving remnants of the silicone inside the boot, which could have caused engine damage if ingested. I removed the boot immediately when I noticed this.I thought I could save time (delivery) and a few pounds by buying this Mishimoto boot, as opposed to one from the USA, but this turned out to be a huge waste of time and money.Have arranged to return the item and receive a full refund.

Bought this product, it doesn't fit, the angle is wrong.

Good quality and fit, performance gain is unnoticeable, makes engine bay worth more to look at though!

It's not just that this boot doesn't fit, but that it's supposed to be designed for one car for the purpose of allowing smoother airflow into the intake manifold--and it fails at this one task. Being about one inch too long, it took me about an hour of fighting twice with the boot, even having to use a special prying tool to get it on. Worse than that, the boot is squished so badly by the installation that you will likely get WORSE air flow into the engine. This is one where it makes sense to stick with the OEM part from BMW.
