Petzl Tikka Headlamp

Petzl are a reliable name when it comes to head torches, and for good reason. This was a reasonable price, and while having no bells and whistles, it does what I need it to do: provide a reasonable light for dog walking in the dark winter mornings. The light has three brightness settings, and while I'm sure there are torches out there that are brighter or have a longer range, all you're going to succeed doing with those torches is annoy anyone that is approaching you from the opposite direction. This torch is bright enough to see and be seen for a good 30m with a fully charged battery.Battery life, of course, is dependent on the type of battery you use, but I have found that a set of cheap rechargable AAAs lasts about three or four early morning walks, so perhaps an hour and a half in total, which is fine for my purposes.The head band is comfortable, and easy to adjust. It fits over a woollen hat well (though you might look a bit stupid wearing it), though you might have trouble fitting it over something like a baseball hat.

I bought this to replace my 10 year old and, by modern standards, very dim previous Petzl Tikka after I embarrassed myself by getting lost in the dark last year because I couldn't see where I was going. I am delighted with this new version and wish I had upgraded long ago. It's very bright at maximum power and plenty bright enough on standard power, with a wide beam. The brightness is easily controlled, and the angle can be easily adjusted. It also looks very smart in black. I like the luminous ring around the light itself which makes it easy to find in the dark.If I had any quibble at all, it's shame that the headband is a shinier thinner material than on the old one that I had, with the logo printed on rather than woven into it. Even some of the cheap headlights I have bought for my kids have this. However, this is a very minor consideration, and the general aesthetics are superb, and it outperforms any other headlight I have seen. I love this, and thoroughly recommend it.

The Petzl Tikka is a simple but very effective headtorch. In its high setting the Tikka is ideal for providing some extra light when doing jobs around the house or in the shed. The beamwidth is just about ideal for this purpose. I've also used the headtorch for walking at night and in that case, I normally use the two lower settings or the red light. The changeover to the red light is well thought through. To activate it you just use a long press of the on/off button. Once activated, it remains in red light mode when you turn it on/off. This is great for use with wildlife as there's less chance of accidentally switching it to white light. To switch back to white light you need another long press of the on/off switch. Overall this is an excellent general purpose headtorch at a very attractive price. I don't think this headtorch is suitable for bikers as you need more light power and a concentrated beam.

Liked ease of use, well thought out operation ie not having to cycle through the 3 brightness modes when switching off, and strong optical quality - even flood light with no dark patches. Subjectively battery life is not great - but as there are only 3 AAA's used - maybe it's better than average. Recommend going rechargeable given the high cost of batteries.

I bought this head torch to replace one I had bought earlier which is not as good, easy to use, 3 white light settings and 2 red light settings. The white light when on maximum is like. a mini searchlight and lights up a nice wide area, the red light is great when I am carrying out bat watching as this does not disturb them much. Great torch and good value for money.

Petzl Tikka HeadlampThis is small, light and very convenient. Can wear it for hours comfortably. Runs on 3 x AAA batteries which are easy to find.It can be setup to turn on in Red mode without fear of coming on in White, which is important for Astrophotography and star gazing.Red is strong enough for walking around and not tripping over tripods, cables, bags, etc. It is a bit bright for setting camera controls, but easy to turn off.The White light is very bright.I am very happy with the light.

Well, there's not a lot I can say about this other than its brilliant!I do own several Petzl headlights and every one of them works fine.The only thing I do have to say is, make sure that you replace the batteries more often than not, it is quite easy for you to carry on using this, start grumbling that it doesn't seem as bright as it used to be only to realise that it's the batteries going flat (or is that just me 🤔).I know that there are several other manufacturers out there that make similar headlights, but I have always stuck to Petzl mainly because of the build quality.

I've used this for two weeks while camping in various places in West Coast USA and have been impressed by it at every turn. To put it simply this headlight is all most people will ever need so just buy it and use it! It's comfortable and easy to switch between all the lighting modes available (3 white LED brightness, 1 red LED and 1 red LED strobe). The glow in the dark locating ring is a nice touch to make it easy to find in the dark while I've used the red LED the majority of the time as it provided enough illumination to do whatever I've needed without attracting all the insects the white LED does. I've not managed to run the batteries down yet so cannot comment on battery life but I do like the option of being able to purchase Petzel's USB rechargeable battery to use with this.

Als Ersatz für meine doch schon sehr in die Jahre gekommene Petzl gekauft. Vollkommen Zufrieden im Freizeitgebrauch! Qualität passt, funktioniert ohne Probleme und intuitiv, wie gewohnt! Qualität der Taste und der Lampe insgesamt völlig in Ordnung für das Geld. Immer wieder gerne Petzl wenn es eine neue "Hirnbirn" braucht
