So far very pleased
Seems to be good quality. Stainless steel and Glass. Thus far have distilled 15 gallons without issue. Fan is noisy, but I learned to start when leaving the house. It is easy to use and easy to clean. (There is some ugly stull left behind after the device shuts off.) This unit has two parts that easily come apart for cleaning or filling the supply tank. My water still smells of chlorine after distillation. The water is crystal clear and tasteless. It works. would recommend. 1 gallon/4 hours. Adding trace minerals for better taste.****************So far still good. Over 75 gallons now. Still works well. Easy to use. No rocket scienced require. If your water is like mine, you need one of these. There is some really ugly stuff left behind in the tank after distilling a gallon. Yuk. Think my plants like it too.

So far, so good
I have used the distiller twice and then cleaned out the minerals before starting a third gallon. It shuts off when out of water so I can leave it to run and not worry about turning it off. We didn't get close to a gallon either time, but I think it was because the little opening in the discharge cap was cut out in such a way that the distilled water was falling on the edge of the opening, so I think we lost some of the distilled water to evaporation. I shoved a plastic binder cover under the water bottle to place the opening closer and higher, hoping this will minimize the evaporation. I couldn't figure out from the directions where the filter would go. Luckily my husband did. I had ordered filters and replaced the one that came with it as suggested by others. The cleaning solution worked to remove the minerals from the bottom of the tank. We are using this water for a humidifier, a CPAP, and for neti-potting. I don't understand why anyone would use distilled water for drinking. It would have a dead flavor, very unnatural.

UPDATE: BEWARE of provided filters!
UPDATE: I found that the reason the water was not clear was because of the charcoal filters that came with it. When I started using the new charcoal filters I'd ordered, after using up the ones that came with, I realized the water was coming out clear. Therefore, BEWARE of using their provided charcoal filters!! Added a star now that the water is clear. I have yet to test the water to see how pure it is so can't give 5 stars. Actually, even if everything else was good, I'd leave a star off because of the filters anyway.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Easy to use & saves money from not having to buy store-bought distilled water BUT... have to be careful in how you place the cap lid with the "v" that goes on the glass container or water will leak all over the place OUTSIDE of the container - the container can't be placed close enough so that the water drips into the container where the larger opening part of the "v" of the lid is. Either that or the SPOUT NEEDS TO EXTEND OUT A LITTLE LONGER so it will drop the water into the larger part of the "v" opening of the cap. The way it currently is, if it's not exactly aligned, one of the drips of water can "attach" to the side of the cap, then the subsequent drops of water starts following the outer path the "attached" water droplet created & the water begins to "collect" outside of the container! I finally started just leaving the cap with the "v" off to avoid the potential mess. I can't be standing by the entire 4 hrs (actually 3.5 hrs because I plug it into a timer) to make sure it's dripping into the hole properly. Even then, everything still needs to be placed just so since that spout is a little too short & you have to make sure the spout is aimed at the right place for the water to go into the hole of the container. The other problem I have is that the distilled water has the slightest brown or coppery tint. It looks clear, but I pour the distilled water into a clear jug after it's been made. I set the jug on the edge of my white tub where the water is readily available for me to pour into my CPAP humidifier nightly. At first, I thought it was my imagination when I'd looked at the jug & saw that the water wasn't clear. However, after looking at it over & over at different angles, I've come to the conclusion that it is NOT clear. The water has also left a reddish-brown stain on my white countertop when a little bit of it was left to dry - proof that it's not my imagination. I've cleaned out the distiller multiple times & changed the filter a couple of times thinking those things might be the problem. Unfortunately, the water still is not clear. I don't know what to do about it. I'm just using it & hoping my inhalation of it nightly is not ruining our health (daughter & husband use CPAP too). It was beyond the time to return it before I noticed the discoloration of the water. I had gone on vacation right after I got it so didn't start using it right away. When I did start using it, it wasn't as frequent as I seem to be using it now &, like I said, didn't notice the discoloration immediately. I've never tried to drink it so can't say anything about the taste (kind of afraid to anyway)!
