It seems to help the corals and fish, but it will make your skimmer go crazy even after the waiting period it tells you to turn it off. Now I have to do an extra water change using the skimmer to export as many gallons as necessary until it works back to normal which could be a lot on my 150G reef...

This is the best bacteria in a bottle you will ever find for the purposes of saltwater aquariums. It cycles your tank in a very brief period of time. Your tank will cycle in days, not weeks. You will not be disappointed to find that after dumping the entire contents of the bottle that the ammonia levels do not drop like with other brands. If you have an ammonia spike, this is the product to buy. DO NOT buy SeaChem Prime to safely lower your ammonia levels in your aquarium - especially if you already have livestock in the tank! That is the WRONG product! I forgot the chemistry behind SeaChem Prime, but DO NOT follow that HAZARDOUS aquarium trend - your ammonia levels will read 0 ppm on your test kits, but your animals will still show the same symptoms of ammonia toxicity and still end up dying. Use Dr. Tim's Aquatics One and Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria to SAFELY lower your ammonia levels in a freshly setup tank and an already stocked tank. Speaking solely about reef tanks, there is no such thing as overdosing this product. All corals have the ability to eat nitrifying bacteria to some degree or another.For me, there is no other brand of bacteria in a bottle - there is ONLY Dr. Tim's One and Only Nitrifying Bacteria! This stuff works, and it is safe for animals. And, no, I was not paid or bribed by anyone to write a stellar review for this product. It helps clean up sludge and can help your skimmer pull excess nutrients and build-up out of a system.However, it can and will stress out sps or other sensitive corals if you're not careful, even at the "half-strength" dose.*Can and will help outcompete Cyano.*That's just the nature of using a potent bacterial additive like this in a closed system, you run the risk of upsetting or hurting livestock. If you made it weak enough to have no risk whatsoever of irritating or harming nutrient-sensitive or bacterial cultivating animals then it wouldn't be potent enough to actually have a meaningful impact.Don't Blindly Dose.Keep a Close eye out for stress when you are dosing, stop if your corals react negatively.

I’ve never been disappointed in any Dr Tim’s products

Re new and waste away were used to treat my 240 gallon saltwater tank. If you scan the qc bar on the back of bottle it will take you to Dr. Tim's website. The website gives a recommended schedule for treatment. The bottle of re new was used first, the waste away treatment was started next. When waste away was started I also started lights out for the days. I still have another dose of waste away to do tomorrow. Today my lights came on and all I can say is wow, what a difference. I've struggled with the cyano red algae for a way to long. I tried several things and was very frustrated. So far I'm very pleased with the results so far.This tank has been up for 8 years. There is a blue tang that was from an old tank that is ~15 years old. I was ready to throw in the towel. The tank looks so much better. Thanks!

I almost passed over this product because the name made me think it was for fish that were wasting away. Not so! It is for clearing up cyanobacteria ("red slime") from salt water reef tanks.The products that claim to clean the "red stains" stop working after a few months. Bacterial resistance is my guess. So I've been looking at other types of products.This product is not the only "our bacteria will out-eat the red slime" product I've tried, so I was a bit skeptical. But after using it for a couple months (and continuing my weekly scrubbing of the red slime), I find I no longer have to scrub!The corals and other creatures in my tank don't react to it at all, unlike the "red stain removers". Well, that's not completely true. The corals exhibit feeding behavior after I treat the tank. This product doesn't cause my skimmer to over-skim, either.It is not reducing the hairy algae, which would have been nice. But, hey. I'm just happy to be rid of the red slime.The bottle is practically empty now. I expect I'll have to buy another bottle in the future and will gladly do so.

I've always been a little worried about using chemicals in the tank, but this stuff was great, along with the ammonia it cycled the tank very quickly, haven't had any problems so far, it's been a week with the fish in and still all readings are as they should be, did my first sand clean and water change today and all is good. This stuff works.

I ordered from from this seller twice and both times the ammonia would not move from 2ppm (dosed with dr tims ammonia chloride) after several days. Then bought from my usual fish store and it knocked ammonia to 0 within 24 hours.I assume the bacteria supplement is either expired, exposed to extreme temperature or compromised in another way.
