dmc 3-4 retrofit
I purchased this M&S DMC3-4 as a retrofit for my M&S602 system that was about 10 years old and had failed. Two notes about the installation: First, the installation instructions led you to believe you had to change out all of the room stations. That was not the case. My old one's worked just fine with the DMC3-4. Second, and this is big deal, no where in the instructions do they tell you that to adjust the Master, Intercom, or Music volume, you use the Tone button and cycle through the positions to adjust each setting. I am very happy with the unit. The AM reception is now much better since the new unit included a ferrite sleeve on the AM antenna wire to reduce 60Hz hum. The new FM antenna is much better too. It took about 4 hours start to finish to replace the unit - but a least an hour of that was looking up how to change the volume on the internet. By the way, if you have to call M&S (now called Linear Products) be SURE to press the "Installer" option to talk to a technician. The homeowner option just sends you to a "call you local guy" which is totally worthless. Said another way, Linear Products really doesn't want people calling them.

It worked great for about 6 months
Replaced our 23 year old system with DMC3-4 Whole House Master Unit. It worked great for about 6 months, then it just quit working. Linear said maybe transformer, to call company we bought from for help. What we found out was we couldn't return to original seller, because it was past 30 day return policy and Linear won't deal with homeowner. Was instructed by Linear to contact closest dealer, who by the way, wants more in labor and travel than we paid for unit. Authorized dealer said that's what we get for not buying from authorized dealer and having it installed by them. Was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and were you able to get any help? The sound was Great and we were well pleased until it quit. It's the service after the sale that's the problem.

Speaker not as loud as the old unit
This was no easy install for me but the product works well! My old unit was larger so I had to create a plate to fill in around it. The transformer had to be changed out too. It took some doing but now it works. The speaker is not as loud as the old unit but the room speakers (already in place) work just the same.

Display stopped working in DMC3-4 Master Station
I bought the new system, September 2016. Well, the master display stopped working and nothing comes on. When, I called service, they told me they do not have replacement parts and the entire master system would need to be replaced. Yes, it is out of Warrenty and the full cost would fall on me the owner. Wow, I am in awe that in order to get this up and running, I must buy an entirely new master station. Why, would parts not be available? How do I know it will not happen again in 2 years? Not sure which direction, I need to turn now as I already spent over $1,200 to replace everything.

Replacement Intercom System
Pricey for what it is but I had an 41 year old Nutone 2090 system and did not want to try to patch holes in the walls (master station plus 8 wall stations) It looks a lot better than what was there before and is functional but who really uses and intercom system nowadays? Anyway I guess it is Ok just wish it had been cheaper. Anyone in the market for an antique Nutone 2090 system? I will let it go CHEAP....
