Barbie, I Can Be- A Pet Vet (Step into Reading, Step 1)

Easy to read!

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this book for my new 1st grader. She has been tested at school, and is currently at a DRA 8/E. She has been able to read higher rated books with help on some words. They are required to read a book by themselves each night, and write a sentence about a specific question of the day. My daughter had no trouble reading this. She did need a little help with the people's names, but that's natural at this stage of reading. The sentence length is just right, due to the length in pages, and I love the big typed print. I would expect one more sentence per page in some rated 1, I Can Read Books, just as a reference. This is perfect even if your kid, or student is at a little higher of a reading level, because there will be night's when they don't have as much time, or need a confidence boost if they're getting frustrated with the lengths or words in current level of books.They story was simple enough, that my daughter could recap the story, yet was detailed enough that she was able to write a beginning, middle, and end sentence, as per her homework. I definitely recommend this book. It's actually at the sentence length of the, "My First" I Can Read books, but some of the words are more level 1. My daughter wears glasses, so these big typed words are a huge bonus. (No pun intended). It's perfect for kindergarten-2nd graders, or for any child who likes Barbie, animals, or wants to be a vet. My daughter has struggled with reading, and it's taken some time for her to not shutdown when frustrated with reading on her own, and the "I Can Read" books have been a blessing, and have given her confidence in her reading. Reading books at her level has really helped her start to enjoy reading.

I love these types of books. My soon to be Kindergartener is able to learn the words and read sentences boosting her confidence in reading. Even if she just mesmerized the short book, she is seeing the word and saying what she remembers that word to be thus learning to read those words. Plus, it’s Barbie and she is 5 so it’s very cool to her.

We love Barbies at our house and my oldest little wants to be a pet vet herself so this book was a must. Great story to hold littles attention and for early readers to learn to read on their own. Barbie takes her pet to the vet and ends up helping out her friend tend to her patients.

This an easy reader. I bought it to go with a gift of a Barbie to encourage reading.

Bought for my niece who loves barbies and learning to read. She loves it and reads it every night. She loves that the pictures are very colorful and easy for her to read. I paired this with a Barbie that had animals and it made the perfect birthday present.

This book was great for my 3 yr old whos just getting into reading. She loves Barbie and this book made her want to try to read. Simple story and easy small sentences. Great for beginners and Barbie fans.

A perfect birthday gift for 5-6 year old kindergarten readers. Everyone loves Barbie and her adventures with different careers. An entertaining story for a beginner.

I bought this for my 6 year old who is learning how to read and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. Perfect length for short attention spans and short sentences for those just starting to learn. The repetition of words is great for early learners as well.

Fab first easy reader book. My daughter was reading this age five. Definitely recommend for any barbie fans who are starting to read first books

The media could not be loaded.  Love this book. My preschooler just started loving these little reader books. We have been trying to find her books that are about experiences. This one is perfect to show her what it would be like at the vet. Highly recommend!
