Everyone should use these
This is a great surge protection option to isolate your cable or DSL modem from your network. Like it or not, your modem connects to the outside world on lines you don't control. While you should still surge protect those incoming lines, this will help protect your network if something gets through them, or through the power going to your modem. Also good to kill ground loops or protect sensitive equipment.
