This was better than expected it came all in working order nicely built and powerful. For the money I can't complain!

I've not used the routing bits yet, but thought I'd buy this for a few small wood projects. I used the cutting disks on a ¼" wooden dowel and went thru 7 (trying to find a comfortable speed) and still didn't cut through because when I put the 8th one on, after letting it cool down, I cranked up the variable speed control, and the entire bit bent downward by 20 to 30° leaving it at 140⁰ to 150⁰ angle, giving it a dangerous and sporadic wobble without even touching the cutting wheel to anything yet. I took the bit out of the chuck and easily bent it back into place immediately seeing where the stress point was, knowing any use with it at that point will snap it, so I threw it away to make sure I never used that bit again.Overall, it's a bit bulkier and has a little more heft than the Dremel brand. I seems to do just fine with better quality attachments and bits, so I would say it's worth the price, but I will recommend you always wear safety glasses, and buy a shield attachment if you plan on using the original bits and cutting wheels so you're not sending a a shard of the cutting wheels through your body somewhere if your bit ends up bending like mine did.

I used this for shaping, grinding and polishing ceramic stuff.After a week of use, it died.It seems the rotary drill sucked in too much dust and just died even though i periodically used compressed air on it.So overall, i think the design is just bad but this is my first rotary tool so i can't say very much about it.guess i'll go to my local store and pick a dremel up tomorrow and since this wen can't be returned via amazon, i'm out 20.00.hope the dremel will be better.------Ok, this is a updated review.so it seems after reading some diy fixes, i opened up the rotary drill and the rotor and motor were covered in ceramic dust. if you know what you're doing, open it. if not than this drill is probably a little bit lacking on this point in terms of longevity and convenience.after blowing out all the dusts and bits inside the motor and rotor units, the rotary drill worked again. i could still hear some minor shrieking and scratching noises while it ran from time to time but at least it's at full speed now. before, it just died, stopped and heated up due to dust build up mitigating the rotors from moving.for 20.00, and being a bit of a handy man myself, i wasn't expecting to open this tool up so soon as i thought most tools out there with great reviews would at least last a bit longer than 1 week of use. i guess it really depends on many variables. ceramic is extremely abrasive and hard so i think i might have been pushing this tool to its maximum, constantly running it around speed 5 for 20 minutes at a time, 4-6 hours a day.i will probably buy another one of this again to keep as backup, but to be honest, i really don't know the standard integrity for rotary tool manufacturing and construction. many people say this is as good as dremel for a fraction of the price....i guess i was giving myself too high of an expectation?-----ok final update, it's dead again after only 10 minutes after fixing it.it's a design flaw in my feeling. the air intake fan is just too close to the drill bit and in fact is sucking in alot of dusts and particles.also, the magnets inside the rotor chambers are damaged due to dust so right now it's a 50.50 chance in terms of workable length. it can die any time, and i'll have to clean the chamber and pray.maybe i need to find an enclosed, airtight chamber.do not buy this rotary tool if you're going to be using it where there is going to be alot of particles and dusts such as ceramics.

When my order arrived, I plugged the unit in and turned it on. There was a humming, but no motion. On further inspection, I found the shaft-lock button was locked and preventing the shaft from moving. This should not happen. Shaft lock buttons should retract when not in use. I returned the unit and ordered a replacement, figuring it was a manufacturing defect.Upon receiving the replacement, the first thing I checked (before even removing the plastic covering the power cord) was the shaft lock button. As I moved to check it, small pieces flew out onto the floor. After a diligent search, I located a small plastic button and a spring. Apparently, the plastic button is supposed to be forced away from the body of the tool by the spring, and that button, being connected to the metal shaft lock button is supposed to retract the latter from the shaft. Except the plastic button is apparently held to the shaft lock button by nothing more than a dab of glue which does not hold up. There doesn't appear to be any mechanical lock from the shaft lock button to the black plastic cover button. I reassembled the cover button and spring, thinking that perhaps it was at least partially a press fit. Wrong move. The button once again shot out of the body of the tool and while I've recovered the spring, the button has left for parts unknown.This is not a manufacturing defect. It is a design defect. At some point the plastic button WILL separate from the shaft lock button and then the shaft can lock up at any time. Additionally, when you change bits, you'll have to turn, shake or bang the tool to get the shaft lock button to drop out of the shaft.I'm returning the tool for a refund and recommend you give this tool a pass unless you're keen to make modifications just to get it to work.Amazon customer service is typically excellent and this is no exception, but I hope Amazon looks at the quality control of this item and lets the manufacturer know that with a little more effort on their part, they may actually have a usable tool.
