Rare, Special Hardware! YUY2 Lossless Compression, Rock Solid Performance and Stellar Compatibility
If you'd like to get straight to the point and see exactly what you get for your money, I have posted a video titled "See how responsive Mirabox HDMI Capture is with OBS Studio" on YouTube. If you just go to channel called "360fov" you'll see the video there. It shows the computer desktop - what you will see when you connect the Mirabox and run OBS StudioReview---------------------------------------Build Quality:This is a highly durable device, which even comes with a heavy-duty lanyard attachment for mobility. It's easy to underestimate how quickly you can wear components out by unplugging and plugging them in; something you will do a lot with a USB capture device if you have more than 1 console. With the Elgato, I ended up with 2 broken USB connectors (on cables), and a lot of micro scratches which were hard to see but very visible in bright light, on the matte plastic casing of the Elgato. Mirabox hasn't picked up any such scratches, and it's solid build makes it harder to put cables in at awkward angles too.Compatibility:This is where the Mirabox really shine: it's true plug and play - accross all operating systems. The moment I connected it to my computer, OBS recognised it by name - all I had to do was presss OK after adding it and I could see my PS4 screen on my computer!Performance / Quality:Capturing in YUY2 format rather than MJPEG results in zero compression and stunning, razor sharp images. You have full control over the quality and compression levels - but if you're looking to record (rather than stream) gameplay, you won't find anything even close to this quality at this price. It's remarkable. I expected the Elgato HD60 to produce superior results - but it's the Mirabox comes out on top.---------------------------------------How To Get Up & Running(Note: DRIVERLESS INSTALL* No need to look for drivers: It's Plug and Play)Install OBS software on computer.Connect Mirabox via supplied USB cable to computer.Connect source (e.g. PS5) HDMI to Mirabox IN.Connect HDMI cable to Mirabox OUT and Television (Pass through; so you can see the signal in real-time).Launch OBS and configure your scene (many video tutorials on YouTube). You're now able to see your Console on your computer screen, on the television screen, and you can press record whenever you're ready to capture footage.

Works fine to record and stream the screen of another computer
I am using OBS and this capture card to take the HDMI output from another laptop to stream and record videos. I had problems at first because I was using the wrong resolution on OBS. It turns out it only works at the highest setting of 1920 x 1080 when taking the signal from my laptop, and I was trying a custom lower setting. But in reality the full resolution is perfect. Customer support in China was very responsive and super helpful, I am very impressed and grateful for their patience. The unit itself is well built and feels like quality. It gets quite warm and never seem to go in standby so I have to remember to disconnect it when I am not capturing video, mainly because it seems like a waste of energy. But I have also left it connected for two or three days and it keeps working fine. The only problems I had were when I was trying to force it to work at the wrong resolution, and this caused OBS to crash and even a couple of kernel panics with the mac rebooting. But now that I have the correct setting it's been perfect, virtually no lag, perfect colours and definition. The only wish I have is that the aux audio input could switch to line level instead of being just mic. The way this works is that you get audio directly from the HDMI input, and on top of that you can also blend in the signal from a micophone using the aux input, but I was hoping to use the aux input to connect the output of another audio interface. Unfortunately, even turning down the input level to a very low setting, the sound remains loud and slightly distorted because that input is expecting a microphone. For the particular setup I have, this meant having to buy and use a separate audio interface to capture audio, but that's just me and I would not regret buying this unit just for this reason.

Bit too flawed for more stars
My experience has been hugely variable dependent on the PC I have been using. First attempt was when using with a basic laptop. Simply did not get any video stream at all.Had equally poor results with a desktop PC with simple embedded Intel HD video. At that point I gave up but it was too late to return the device. So it sat in a drawer for 18 months. Then I recently tried a relatively high spec (Intel i7) laptop as end of life stock through my place of work. Video came through perfectly. There was no audio but I worked that one out. My source for the test had Dolby Digital Plus chosen format for audio over HDMI (this setting is needed if you have a Dolby capable sound bar). Changed the audio format to 'Normal' and got audio too.Now for the gripes. Using OBS Studio to record, sometimes the screen is blank and it says 'No Source'. The fix is some combination of restarting OBS and unplugging and replugging the HDMI cable from the Mirabox (or where it exits the HDMI switch). Basically try something until the source appears again in OBS.The unit is designed to passthru the HDMI signal which should enable it to be left in place even when not recording. But passthru only works when it has power which means it must be plugged into a PC at all times. This is just not practical for me.Also, the unit did not cope with a 4k input. The colours went all shades of blue. Presumably missing some R or G. So I did not want to drop everything down to 1080p. So forget bypass.Found a workable solution using an HDMI switch with 2 outputs where each could be set to a different resolution. So I have 4k input and then output 1 goes to 4k TV. Output 2 set to 1080p to go to the Mirabox.

Good product
Purchased to enable a Nikon Z6 or Sony RX100 mk3 to be used for Zoom meetings. Both cameras worked fine but a Rode microphone performed slightly better when connected directly to the PC.

Excellent Inexpensive gaming capture card
This item is great, works really well with obs and doesn’t have any latency so keeps up with the game play without any lag.I bought this after buying a much more expensive well known brand that had a 1-2 second delay.I would recommend this item over others and it’s at a great price too
