Great for chord melody fundamentals
Check out my other reviews as I'm on the hunt for supplemental information to help learn chord melody approaches. This book has a great approach and several ways to view the fret board that I wish someone had pointed out some of this information to me earlier. Keep in mind that this is not a traditional "here are the chords, here is the melody, here's how to put them together" but a true fundamental approach to learning chords, inversions, understanding core triads and linking them to a guitar melody or bass line type movements. I can see that these are all core techniques when it comes to playing chord melodies -- so I'm excited about how this will combine and expand my current understanding and abilities of jazz improvisation and apply it to chord melody approaches. Looks like a very well done book. I will try to add more comments as I work through this book. The other one I have is Building a Jazz Chord Solo (Sokolow) which looks like a more traditional approach. I'm hoping for under the cost of a typical guitar lesson, I'll have some great information to be on my way. Watch for future updates.

Good book put lacks the most important part.
Good foundational material. It would have been helpful if the author had included a final chapter that showed how to put this together and actually develop some chord melody arrangements. Makes no sense that he doesn't.

A Good Method to Visually and Intellectually Get into Chord Melody
I love the chord diagrams. I think that will really speed my learning. I also like the logical instructional approach -- really using the chord structures, construction and relationships in a five pattern approach to gradually bring you to an understanding of the concepts necessary for the journey ahead.

Lots of useful information in 64 pages
I was fortunate enough to study Chord Melody electives with Bruce at GIT recently and this book covers the underlying skills to create nice chord movements.Note that no Jazz standard complete chord melodies are included and emphasis is more on the chord part than the process of adapting a melody. Some of the material here is part of the GIT Rhythm Level III core class, which Bruce also wrote and this book could also be used as a nice follow-on to 'Rhythm Guitar - The Complete Guide'.The material is intermediate/advanced and Chapter 14 - More Chord Voicings contains plenty of fingerings I had never seen before, but which sound great if you can play them.Since there is no 'Look inside' on Amazon yet I will list chapters; An overall fretboard view, Shells, Inversions, Harmonized scales, Chord scales, Slash chords, Harmonic moves, Voice leading, Cadences, Moving Lines, Substitution, Diminished chords, Chordal Interpretation, More Chord voicings.

NOT RE FAINT OF HEART
If you're looking for beginners book on chord melodies look elsewhere. The theory involved is of an intermediate (at least) nature. If on the other hand you are an intermediate to advanced player, this is an excellent book,(hence the 5 star rating) and the accompanying CD is like having a friend to play along with.

Ok
This book is not presented well. It’s great if all you need is chord voicing a in different positions, but it doesn’t explain how to utilize them, in a very understandable way.

The title is a bit deceiving...
This book is actually an intermediate/advanced music theory manual for guitar. Strong on theory, but a bit short on practical application. Don't consider this a "101 course" book, it's more of a "music theory 301".

Great book.
Great book. And you will always keep it for reference. You can surely get more in depth books, but you will still find this one useful either by itself or in addition to other literature.

Eccellente libro
Il libro è in inglese, ma è scritto da un musicista che, è evidente, vuole essere veramente compreso e trasmettere qualcosa agli altri. Bravo!!PS: per musicisti di livello almeno MEDIO o MEDIO/AVANZATO

The book is good but has a lot of explanations than practical examples to clearly explain the concepts. It should have also stated the Guitarist level for one to use it.
