Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon [4K Ultra-HD] [Blu-ray] [2019] [Region Free]

I’ve seen thousands and thousands of films over the decades and this is up there as one of the very best. It’s an easy 10/10. Highly recommended.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a beautiful film. It was the first time I had ever seen a wuxia film and maybe even one of the first Asian films I ever saw. Everyone remembers this one when it came out. It was a huge success and was extremely well praised. It's nice to finally see it in 4k with all it's beautiful detail preserved.The movie has an excellent cast including Chow Yun-fat, Zhang Ziyi, Michelle Yeoh and the legendary Cheng Pei-pei. It was originally released in the year 2000, was directed by Ang Lee and was based on the novel of the same name. I owned the original Bluray and have had it for years. I felt that the old release never did the movie justice. This new 4k release however, it does in so many ways.The visual quality of this film is just stunning. Every bit of detail and colour has been preserved. There's a lot of film grain (as there should be) which looks very different to my previous release. Thanks to the preservation of the grain, you'll see so much detail in the outfits, environments and even on the actors faces. I've also got to give some credit to the sound design. The score is quite memorable, even if it is a bit basic. The use of atmospheric drums and percussion in the more up beat scenes echoed through out my living room, it was very cool. The contrast between that and the more traditional film score was well done.I can't speak for everyone, but I thought this 4k disc was a nice improvement on the previous release I had. It does everything I wanted it to do and for a tenner, I sure am not complaining. If you want the best possible version of this film, this is it. I don't know why others are complaining. I never saw this awful detail or lack thereof that they have a problem with. A must watch!

Wow. What a movie. Gets better on every viewing

I'd read that the uhd disc of this classic film suffered from massive amounts of film grain that detracted from the enjoyment of viewing it so was a bit hesitant to buy it.It looks great, there is film grain and yeah it can be a bit obvious but it still looks beautiful, it just doesn't look like a recorded digitally, because it wasn't.

what not to dislike! Chow Fun Fat is the MAN!!!

This is strictly a review of the 4k version - the movie itself is a solid 5* and an absolute must-watch.Unfortunately the 4k transfer is very poor and really doesn't do the content justice. A lot of noise had been introduced in the darker scenes and the hdr effect does nothing for the colour palette. There is no extra detail compared to the blu ray transfer and the sound is much more immersive on the blu ray (though that may be siren to my setup).

Enjoyable film, but about last quarter of the film the audio track was out of sync with the actors speaking and lip movement. the problem with audio track can be distracting as it is possible to see the lips moving but no sound.

Blu-ray anglais avec piste française sur le 4k mais pas sur le simple Blu-ray , mais perso je l'ai pris pour la vostfr en mandarin et en dolby atmos, pour ceux que ça intéresse!

New version of the martial arts classic, one of the all-time greats.
