The string is intended to pass through an eyelet at the ceiling and tie to the garage door so that it will be up out of the way when the door is closed, but our door is a little taller than standard. We just tied it to the eyelet at the ceiling. It was installed in about 10 minutes and it works as expected.

Works as expected… I didn’t read all of the details but I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple options for installation when I opened the package.You can just hang it from the ceiling (which I did)Or you can connect it to your garage door so that it drops down when the door is open, and raises up when the door goes down. That was a really slick and unexpected bonus!My truck barely fits in my garage, and I have to pull up very close to the wall. This is going to keep me from smashing my truck into the wall on accident.Highly recommend.

We just needed a visual stop in the garage for our car. Good color, soft, lightweight, & easy to install. Not high quality, but it was relatively inexpensive and did the trick.

I used to wonder whether I pulled into the garage far enough to avoid having the garage door closing down on top of my car. No more guessing. I parked perfectly every time. Worth the small price for that peace of mind.

Like the title says . . .No hassle garage protection for your vehicle

It works as advertised, but if you are using the hang from ceiling approach, there is nothing to lock the cable from moving. Had to find a clip. There are better options with a plastic lock available. Thanks

I like how this tennis ball size foam ball hangs on a string from my ceiling in the garage. I drive in slowly and the windshield taps the ball and I stop.I now know my back bumper is in far enough to not get scratched from the garage door when it comes down.

Works great. Just be warned you need a very high ceiling in your garage for it to work, as the distance from the ceiling to the lowering point must equal or exceed the distance your garage door travels when you open it. I do and I’m using it on a low profile car and the stop ball gets right up to the ceiling with the garage door closed. For most garages you likely would need to add a stopper on the string and allow the string to hang down loose a bit when the garage door is open for it to work without being ripped out of the ceiling.

One reason you buy a kit like this is because you don't need to shop for everything separately. If you have an unfinished garage with low ceiling the kit is fine. However I have a high ceiling that has been drywalled. The tiny eye screws do not secure in drywall so I need to shop for drywall anchors and suitable eye screws. Because of the high ceiling the string provided was not long enough to reach the garage door and needed some extension. You will have a similar problem if your garage is deep for older and longer cars. Price is right for what you get.

Never got it. Don't know why I need to review it. Using a 2x4 to mark where to stop the car. Simple and effective.

I bought two of these for my 2 car garage. I have a drywall ceiling in the garage, so the ceiling is maybe 10 or 11' high. This posed a bit of an issue for doing a retractable setup. For this to work, the height from the car's windshield to the ceiling must be more than the distance the garage door will move. If the garage door moves a longer distance than the ceiling to windshield hang distance, your ball will be ripped from the ceiling. For a Civic, I was able to setup the ball mid-windshield and the ball retraction was perfect, stopping just short of the ceiling when garage door closed. However, for my larger SUV, the standard setup wouldn't work, the distance from windshield to ceiling was too short. The instructions say "give up" and just do a "fixed" hang, but you don't have to, the solution is simple. With the garage door closed, run your string so the ball is right near the ceiling at the top of its run. Now open the door, the ball will come down and probably flop around too low. Go to eyelet and pull the string back until the ball is hanging at the right height. At this point, you'll want to make a stopper on the string to prevent it from going through the eyelet. I used used some tape to make a tape ball on the string. Now, instead of the ball hanging to low, the tape will hold the ball at proper height letting some excess string hang down between the eyelet and the garage door (use multiple eyelets to prevent too much slack hanging down in one spot, but remember you'll need enough space for the tape ball to pull towards the garage door when closing. With this setup, the ball hangs at the right height, but the extra slack in the string held by the tape ball will allow the garage door to close fully, taking up the slack before lifting the ball and no ripping from ceiling. The tape ball / stopper must be lighter than the yellow ball though, otherwise the tape ball will come down from the ceiling instead of the yellow ball. The yellow ball is quite light.
