Different, but Still Not Very Good
I was absolutely bummed how this movie turned out. When it started, I thought it was great because it was dark, eerie, and Octavia Spencer plays a great crazy woman, but then after a few minutes you can see what's coming a mile away, but you still have to sit through the rest of the movie to see what happens and what you thought was going to happen, happens. I liked how this movie was different from most Blum House movie's, but I still don't don't recommend this movie. I'm not going to give anything away in case you want to watch it.

Octavia! Octavia!
Octavia Spencer is a delight and the best thing to ever happen to the big screen!!! Love this woman!! What's NOT to love? However, this flick simply was not as good as I hoped it would be(not the fault of the actors in any way). Could have been MUCH better. Most of the younger characters are simply obnoxious and hard to stomach. Particularly McKaley Miller. Her character in Ma is nothing special and she talks too damn much and seems to think she owns the universe and is the only person in it who is entitled to an opinion. She also seems to think she has the market cornered on wit and humor which she definitely does not! The character is very predictable and boring to watch as are her friends who are all under the strong delusion that they are somehow superhuman just because they're all under the age of 30.There is a scene involving public fellatio in a parked car with an older couple that seems very out of place for the film. However, I guess it was befitting given that neither one of them had adopted any class or extra brain cells since their high school days when they used to bully Sue Ann(Spencer) and tricked her into being intimate while being secretly watched by an entire group of popular kids. However, it just seemed more like a desperate attempt to save a movie that in my honest opinion cannot be saved with any extra amount of polish. Play at your own risk with this one. Not the best or the worst film I've ever seen.

Decent revenge flick
Let me be the first to say, modern music sucks. All the music that bookends this movie is freaking dreadful. Ma liked to play old party music, so I guess that was ok. It was hilarious when she runs someone down, then cranks up the Earth, Wind & Fire. I suppose this is just another revenge thriller, stemming from bullying as a child. But it was done in a way that held my interest. Octavia Spencer played the victim/mentally unbalanced psycho quite well. I was a little disappointed she didn't off some of those degenerate kids. And the ending. Really. Stereotypical, wrapped up in a nice little bow. I guess the ride wasn't bad.

don't tick her off
Sue Ann, Ma, Octavia Spencer was wronged as a young girl by the local popular kids....sound familiar? This is a plot that has been done to death but there is a bit more to this one. A bit of a thriller and it is very successful. Octavia is pretty scary as this character so she does a great job. THe rest of the cast including Juliette Lewis whom i usually find to be very annoying but not here. Luke Evans doesn't have much to do. The cast is very young and very capable. I do recommend this to all you thriller fans.
