Q: How do you care for the outside sole? i’ve had mine for a while, they’ve held up well, but the bottom is very slick. i’d like to give them some tlc

You let the soles do their thing. It's the sole of the moccasin; it will get dirty and eventually pick up a little shine over time. Just leave it. There's nothing you're going to do that will make it look as good as the uppers. And using sandpaper simply wears away at the leather. What I have found over years of wearing the various soft sole moc styles Minnetonka makes, is that as the sole develops "character" it tends to be a bit more water repellent than new suede (which is like a sponge). The moccasins will be able to handle damp ground better and longer. That's still not to say I'd wear them in the wet but with an occasional damp condition they will not as easily get soggy.

Q: What skin or hide is used for this men leather lace soft sole moccasin ?

Regular very soft leather and rawhide lacing. Extremely comfortable! I highly recommend them. My second pair after many years with the first pair.
