not what i thought
was described as cast iron, but the bottom plate is all plastic and thought the rest of it is not plastic, it does not seem heavy enough to be cast iron.

Very flimsey. Should have been made heavier. not a real book press.

Mine arrived with the top knob broken. It's cheaply made.

Item is not 100% cast iron
This book press is not 100% cast iron: the base is sheet metal. At best I will use it for decoration, and not the original purpose I intended for it.
