A few duds, but so many laughs
Even after more than a decade Futurama is still one of the funniest and most clever shows on TV. This set collects the latest seasons. Once again the writers and cast did not know if this would be their last one but since it came out Futurama has been renewed for at least one more season. The standout episode is definitely Reincarnation where the Futurama cast is remimagined as an old black and white cartoon, an 8-bit video game and a poorly dubbed anime. Other stand-outs include Cold Warriors where Fry reintroduces the common cold to the 31st century and Mobius Dick where we learn the fate of the first Planet Express crew.None of the episodes really top some of the classics from the first few seasons, and one or two fall flat, but overall this is a fun show and worth watching. All of the episodes include commentaries that filled me in on any geek or science in-jokes I missed. It's great to hear the cast and crew on these, they're clearly having the time of their lives working on this show.

NOTE to Futurama fans and potential buyers: This is the SECOND HALF of Season 6. Great Show For Adults
The original maker of the Simpsons outdid himself with this series. So much fun to watch. I prefer the Bender the robot episodes for sure but all of them are great

Getting back to the Classics
After being off the air for more than four years, it would have been impossible for Futurama to come back immediately with the same air and feeling as the it did in 2003. The movies and the first half of the new TV season showed that the new Futurama was still trying to get into its new rhythm. Without the doubt the second half of the new Season, contained in this Blu-ray pack, shows the progression of the shows effort to mature into new home at Comedy Central without losing what made Furturama great at the first time. I think the show has largely succeed. The laughs are there (and feel less forced), the characters feel more familiar and lovable than the movie versions. Will the series maintain its blend in FOX years while develop into something more? Compared to the movies, I feel far more optimistic that it will.As for the Blu-ray, I just wish we had little more extra content like the Simpsons DVD packs.

Great show, only ok packaging
Futurama is fantastic, if you haven't seen the series at all, please don't start with Volume 6, but honestly you'd be able to pick up no matter what. It's definitely not a series that requires watching through from the beginning. Just pick up where you can and enjoy, very much worth it.I will say I'm not a fan of the packaging, which is the only reason this isn't a 5 star. It's cheap cardboard and when I got it the box had actually broken, leaving the disks slipped down between the cover and the actual holding area thing. So if you decide to buy this, pick up a decent CD case, cause you'll probably need it. The cool thing is the artwork there's some neat stuff and the cover looks really awesome.

Funny Season!
If you have never watched this TV series or don't think it's funny. You have no pulse.

Patchy, but still good.
Like the specials and series 5, it's not as original or as rich in jokes and ideas as the first four pre-cancellation series. But it still has a lot of the appeal of those originals. The quality is very variable from episode to episode. Some of them I just didn't find funny at all. A lot of them suffered to varying degrees from the "Fast Show" effect, where lots of bit characters who had a specific role in previous stories are marched on just to speak their catchphrase and where the main characters repeatedly refer back to incidents from previous episodes for no apparent purpose. But where they are good, they are still good. You can still play a good game of spot the sci-fi trope, and there are some good variations on old science and maths jokes (in Law and Oracle, and Benderama, in particular).

If all the Future a season sets were packaged like this on blue ray I most likely would replace my DVD sets. The packaging is really nice, comes with a really nice sleeve. The picture and audio quality is superb in my oppionion which is the main thing that really matters. Sounds brilliant on my surround sound. There are a few special features with this set but not a huge amount. If your someone who enjoys commentaries on the episodes you will be happy to know their included aldo. All in all very happy with this purchase, a real shame they cancelled this series again

The best of the "grown up" animated series around
As punchy as ever and exploring a wealth of new ideas, rather than repeating old ideas and getting stuck in ruts like most of its rival animated series. Futurama always says more about the world we live in today than the world as it might be in a thousand years time. It even takes a deep breath and pokes fun at itself from time to time, so pay close attention to the dialogue and become acquainted with the real-life names of the voice talents.....

Some brilliant episodes - but not the ones I expected
These thirteen episodes of the series are all pretty good, although I was disappointed with "Reincarnation". It sounds amazing: the episode features the characters appearing in a 1930s cartoon style, an anime style and a video game style, but I found the episode a little too indulgent to be funny. I'm looking forward to the remaining 26 episodes of Futurama, as it has been cancelled, again.
