I first read "Transforming the Difficult Child" method of discipline and it is what every parent wants. It is done with a nurturing heart and has transformed my grandson. My daughter, husband and I implemented this approach. I wish I had used this when my kids were little. Highly effective, but doesn't require breaking the spirit of the child. I am an educator of 32 years and have seen lots of techniques for discipline."Notching Up the Nurtured Heart Approach" is the companion book for educators. I highly recommend it. This method will reach students you never thought you could and is effective and preferred for all children. It seems too easy and like it won't work, but like magic it does.

This book is well-structured, simple, and the results nothing short of transformative. This little book saved our family. After consulting more psychologists, counselors and psychiatrists than I can count on two hands, and reading a bookshelf full of books, we discovered this gem. First we implemented this program, with astonishingly positive results. Then we started sharing it with friends and colleagues who parented intensity, adopted children and trauma. They are thrilled as well. As I read more about trauma-informed care, attachment theory, ADHD, ODD and brain research on neuro-plasticity I understand why this approach is so much more effective than what we've tried in the past. Like Howard says, the more challenged the child or children, the more you need to implement it like your life depends upon it. As both parents and educators, we needed this information on both fronts.

Amazing book. I'm an elementary teacher and I re-read this book every couple of months. I use this technique in my profession and it has made a major difference in my connections with my students. Amazing book all teachers should read!!

An excellent book for educators to read - especially those who are just starting out in the profession. For those who have been teaching for years, this book has the potential to be a game changer. It is second order change for many classrooms....a totally different approach to classroom management. After teaching for 31 years, I had my most challenging/high needs class ever and wanted to try something totally out of the box from what I was used to....and this works! Amazing results!

If you want transformed kids, not just behavior management, this is the program for you!!!

I believe this is the answer to MANY families & professionals having peace and joy restored ... or created ... in our homes & work environments! You can not go wrong with this method of dealing with the kids in our lives ... and everyone we are in contact with! THANK YOU!

I loved this book. It was everything I hoped for and more. Have been trying this approach on my most 'intense' students and have had amazing results. I have found I have to 'reset' myself every time I fall back into my default 'sergeant major control freak' approach which I was so tired of! The book is an easy read and is easy to follow. It just made so much sense...like the missing piece to my puzzle. I am recommending this approach to my colleagues and friends...I am even using it on my 32 year old son and my husband. It is not a another technique or something more in my tool box, but a life-changing paradigm shift. I am so thankful to have found this approach. I have ordered "You are Oprah" by the same author and can't wait to read it.
