Back rolling helps keep your upper back upright and lovely! Our back roller is made with ABS core (hard yet light), molded PU foam (soft but not too slippery), molded-over edges (prevents the core slipping out), is one foot wide, and has a plain exterior. The Gokhale Roller is 13" long and 6" in diameter, and weighs 1.7 lbs (765 g). This testimonial reached us from a happy customer and we thought it is worth sharing: "Love my new Gokhale Roller Hello, I just wanted to let you know my thoughts on the new Gokhale Roller…I love it! I have had my traditional “foam roller” for about 10 years. Needless to say it was rather well used. I had been noticing that there were some “flat” areas but continued using it. Received information about your new Gokhale Roller and decided it was time for a new one. Now I really do not like my old one! Ha! Things to love about my new Gokhale Roller: - no flat spots - since there are no flat spots it rolls easier on the floor and…on my back - since it is hollow it is much easier to grasp (who would have thought being hollow could make such a difference - it can easily be picked up/adjusted/moved with one hand - it is hard yet soft - did not realize it would be so small but find that I really like the smaller size - seems to be made well…time and continued use will tell Thank you!"

A little small
It's a great roller, well-made, sturdy, feels good on my back. And although the size/dimensions are clearly stated, my brain expected it to be bigger, based on the video posted with the product. The one Esther Gokhale is demonstrating her technique with is about twice as long, so it seems deceptive somehow. This roller barely spans the width of my shoulders. If there was a longer one available, I'd be interested, but I have not been able to find any other sizes.

The Gokhale Back Roller is fabulous!
I am currently a student of the Gokhale Method and am loving learning and practicing it. My lower back pain has gone away, and I am beginning to discover more wonderful things are happening to my overall sense of wellbeing. I am rolling my upper (thoracic) spine slowly, daily, on the Gokhale back Roller because it feels so good, but also because I am on a mission not to become like my parents who both had/have kyphosis/Dowagers hump. and chronic back pain. I am learning through the Gokhale Method that there is much we can do to prevent spinal deterioration and to heal damage already done through decades of poor posture. The Gokhale Back Roller is a perfect size and has a perfect firmness/softness to it. I love it and the Gokhale method!

A backsaver during the Covid-19 shutdown
I purchased the Gokhale roller early this year after owning two other rollers that proved to be too soft to be effective. It has been a backsaver, especially during the Covid-19 shutdown, when it's no longer been possible to see a massage therapist. I use it several times a week to loosen the muscles around my thoracic spine, and it provides great relief, especially when using it just before going to bed at night--I relax and go to sleep more quickly. I also like the 13" length. The shorter length allows the roller to be used against a wall (instead of on the floor) for gentler pressure and to be stored easily. I highly recommend this roller.

Very firm roller
Roller is very firm. Uncomfortable to use on thoracic spine coccyx. Not for me.

No more slipping and sliding.... or arching
I had been slipping and sliding on various bio-foam rollers for years but after getting a Gokhale roller last year, the difference was noticeable. The hard inner core with the sponge-like outer core allows you to get just the right amount of tension when used directly against the skin to coax some releases in the area of your choice. Esther's explanation of how to use the roller by avoiding a sway in your back was key to my progress. I found her video online entitled, Lengthening the Spine. Nothing happens overnight, but I am more than pleased with the progress I've made in the past year. Along with her cushion, they are my most valued implements of posture correction choice.

Really Made a Difference for my back
When I developed degenerative disc disease I found I couldn't tolerate my old hard foam roller from my running days. This one has slight padding over a hardcore is perfect. I can roller my lower and upper spine without the discomfort from the hard roller. It is nice sized and also allows use for sitting on etc. Strongly recommend.
