Fairly Involved Series
1) Why I chose this book : Thought I'd try out a new fantasy author with good creds and book of decent length to start2) Any course language present : None noted making for a good YA and up read3) Type of book : Fantasy/adventure book complete with shapers, dragons (drassins), warriors, elementals (fire, earth, water, etc.) and more4) Formatting/Editing : Reasonably tight5) Best/Worst aspect of book : Easy to get lost in this world hence I went back to purchase the Saga containing books 1-3 so I might start at the very beginning6) Favorite Passage : "The foulness of what she'd become burned at his senses"7) Bottom-line : Author writes well and book has an appealing plot, will be a toss up as to whether I dive into this series once again or start the "Binder's Game" next...oh, the choices.

Delightful
I'm really enjoying these books. They remind me of other series that I have enjoyed for similar reasons. I love that they remind me of Avatar the Last Airbender, with the people connected to elemental power. I love that it reminds me of the first time I read the Sword of Truth series, because our protagonist has great power if he can learn to master it.I don't mean to imply that this is a copy of any other series. It's very much its own unique story. But it's comfortable to read. It has familiar aspects.I also really enjoy the personification of the elemental spirits. I'm excited to continue this series.

Action packed
This alone is a very good novel - the series is wonderful. I first met Tan at the beginning of the series and I've watched him steadily grow As he learned his abilities. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and I hope that you will want to pick it up and I will enjoy it as much as I am.

Great read
Slower start than the first book but awesome when it gets started. Would have liked to see more study and interactions at the university setting but wouldn’t have increased flow. Overall super intense at the ending and what a cliffhanger that ending is. Glad I get to dive right in to book three. The biggest annoyance to me is the new word for dragon. Why Drassin? It’s obviously a dragon I know it’s a created world/language but just a little goofy doesn’t remove from the overall quality of this read!

Fun and light perfect for a quick read
The author continues to present a consistent and fun story. The book is engaging, fun, and straight forward, a good rest for those of us that need a change of pace for a few hours. The only thing I keep lamenting is the hero. Although brave and courageous, the guy is just too dense. He is not challenged or anything. He just mentally lazy, undisciplined, expects (needs) that all other around him provide the solution for his issues. He is the kind of guy that wonders all the time: why me? Instead of thinking: why not? And just try.Still the guy is likable, and thank The Maker, is always been pushed forward.

The adventure continues.
This second book in this series is filled with twists and turns along with dangers, intrigue, secrets and half truths. That keep you on the edge of your seat flipping pages to gather more information. Tan learns there is more to him than he even imagined. Taking him places he never thought he would go or to do things he would do as well for his survival and the survival of others. Fighting unimaginable creatures that take pleasure in destroying lives. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of this book because I love to read and endorse an author's writing I enjoy without revealing to much of the story to not to ruin it for others.
