My Love Story

A Little Snake Oil, A Quick Read, An Astounding Life and Career
Tina's last book is the best and most intelligent publication I've seen to originate out of Tennessee in quite some time. I saw Tina Turner perform in Tennessee very soon after she left Ike. I was a senior in high school. The venue was larger, and she opened for Black Oak Arkansas. Tina Turner made Jim Dandy look like he was standing still. I had never seen anyone move like that in my life, and in heels, and I haven't since. The abuse and the Southern poverty details in her book(s), I fear I must inform, may be far too often still the case today, in some locales. I know I saw it, and I grew angry each time I went back to Tennessee for many, many years. I don't go back there anymore. I would encourage all people of all ages to read Tina Turner's last autobiographical book, if you have time for no other, especially if you have daughters, or if your mother was non-supportive, or your father absent, or both, or you grew up in what used to be referred to in the South as "a broken home." Women and girls especially, who have never seen these horrors can obtain an accurate perspective of what it was like to endure from reading this book. Ms. Turner gives a great story, and like all things Southern, there's just a tiny bit of snake oil in it, for entertainment purposes. In summation, a true artist and a giving soul, My Love Story is an exceptionally inspiring read, written very much with her audience in mind, by the late Tina Turner.

Simply The Best
What an insightful, honest look into the life of a lady who keep moving in the direction you chose even with the ugliness of domestic violence. Tina Turner rose to the well deserved pinnacles of music. I am forever inspired and humbled.

A Spiritual Warrior Who Loves Making Others Happy
The story is intimate, truthful, and is a record of Tina’s most important moments. Not a word is wasted on selling or fabricating tales that reside in fantasy. Rather the story revolves around Tina’s feelings about people and events as she develops the courage needed to face difficult challenges. When she sings “Whats Love Got To Do With It,” she subconsciously realizes that spirituality is the basis of all life, and that without it, her relationship with her first husband is empty and devoid of all meaning and happiness. She finds spirituality and love with a second husband later in life. In fact, when she needed a kidney, Erwin Buck, her second husband, gave her his unconditionally. This moment of truth cemented her belief that she was on the right track. Happiness never left her side once she decided to leave her first husband, Ike.

Lição de vida!
Estou adorando o livro!

Tina Turner - meeting
I gave been a fan of Tina Turner, way back to the Ike days, where I saw her performing at a free Nelson Mandela Wembley Concert. Later in the 80s in Melbourne, I learned that she was performing that night; the concierge telephoned and confirmed places available - I leapt into a taxi, direction venue. A PUB! Tina performed, giving it her all to an audience of approx 30 people. We chatted and the next morning met up in the Hotel foyer to share a taxi to Melbourne. She was at the lowest point of her career, but what a woman - courageous - down to earth - no divaesque airs and graces. She told me "yeah I'm down, but I ain't out." Unforgettable.
