I purchased this unit because I cost more so it must be better.

Today January 5, 2017 I purchased this temperature probe in May 2016 and the first time using it it quit working. Amazon sent me another unit. Today January 5, 2017 I was going to use it and it is reading 150 degrees at room temperature. I purchased this unit because I cost more so it must be better.Today February 6, 2017. I found that if there is any moisture, at all, on the plug or receptacle for the temperature probe the unit reads high. I made sure is was dry, I mean very dry, it reads correctly. I purposely dampened the probe with a little water from my finger and it read high again. So, keep it dry and it will work. Don't think it should be so temperamental.

Good product but instructions could use an overhaul

I would rate it higher if the instructions were easy to understand and it was a bit more user friendly. The instructions are so little that we have a hard time reading it and I still haven't been able to use all the feature. Too hard so I gave up and only use it for temp reading and the alarm feature

Love this thermometer, but...

I had a hard time deciding between 4 and 5 stars. 5 stars because of ease of use and features. I love it so much I'm buying another one. But that would be the reason to downgrade it to 4 stars- this will be my third. Longevity is not its virtue.

Perfect for cooling temperatures.

I use this thermometer for making yogurt. It lets me know when the milk comes to 180 and then again once it cools down to 110. Most thermometers only alarm for reaching a temp not for cooling. This has saved me many times because I get working on something else while I am waiting for my milk to cool. Love it!!!

Perfect for making yogurt

We make our own yogurt so it's essential that it registers top temperature as well as lower setting. Wife thinks it's great.

An excellent full-range digital thermometer and timer

The model I purchased was actually the Component Design NW Model DTTC, which is identical to the Comark Digital High-Low Cooking or Cooling Thermometer / Timer / Clock.I've tested the 14° to 392°F (10° to 200°C) range with another digital thermometer and everything accurately checks out.The device is also a valuable temperature alarm, to notify you when your meal has reached the exact degree of doneness -or if your freezer or refrigerator is malfunctioning. But be sure to refer to the included, and detailed, operation instructions, as it's impossible to figure out how this versatile device works without it. If you lose the instructions, the amazon.com pdf file can be downloaded with a "Component Design NW - Model DTTC operating instructions" google search. And what I really like about this device is its ability to conveniently run off of one AAA rechargeable NiMH battery. This is in sharp contrast to my other, industrial grade, Component Design NW Model TSP572 digital thermometer which uses two AAA alkaline batteries -and won't run at all with rechargeable batteries.
