There are actually 115 dialogues here! I love how it covers the most common conversations people have. It’s so practical! The conversations are quite natural and mimic real life. There’s even some humor. This book provides hours and hours of learning. I’ve used it daily for more than a week and I’m only on #27. So the price is totally worth it! I read the conversations out loud and highlight any words or phrases I don’t understand for later review. I noticed that the pieces have been thoughtfully written to offer explanations of what’s been said through context. My husband is fluent in Portuguese and he has verified that the phrases used are correct and common. You won’t find these in any textbook, but it’s how the language is actually used. Once in awhile the English translation is awkward. I recommend using Google Translate camera to offer another translation to supplement the book. Another way to use this book is to role play with a native speaker. Tandem language partners may be found online. Many Brazilians are friendly and interested. Boa sorte!

I learned the sounds and rhythm of Japanese 2 years before I ever took a class by LISTENING to dialogs. I speak enough Romance languages that I do not need to see the English. I can even carry on conversations with Brazilians who speak no English, even though I have not yet started studying Portuguese. BUT my questions and responses are stilted because I am uncertain about the pronunciation.I love the conversations, it is the most natural way for me to learn a language, BUT without the Whispersync, so I can HEAR it, it has little value in my ability to speak Portuguese.Just audio would be better for me, but with Whispersync, it would be an awesome tool! I know from personal experience and 16 years work experience as an education, nothing beats the multisensory learning than Whispersync and other similar technology.

I think Lingo Mastery are really onto something with their approach to language learning. I find recreating the path to fluency that we took with our native language reading progressively more advanced texts is really effective. I find the three pronged attack of Lingo Mastery, Duolingo and Pimsleur to cover all bases in my language learning once I add practice conversations with native speakers. I’d say these books are essential for every autodidactic language learner.

I purchased this book as I decided I wanted to learn portuguese. I have all of Lingo Mastery's books for learning Spanish. They are an excellent resource to get you speaking. This book as with others is really good for learning the language as used by native speakers. If you want to start having conversations in portuguese I highly recommend this book and Lingo Mastery's other books.

I've just started learning Portuguese and this book is definitely a big help.Portuguese is a beautiful language and I love the sound of it. I do watch movies in Portuguese with subtitles. Maybe I'll be able to understand more of the spoken dialogue.Good book. Enjoy.

I love what Lingo Mastery is doing with their series of books. Not only do you get to learn content but you get to do so in a fun and engaging way. I also love how practical it is and not just dry and boring. Lingo Mastery certainly provides great resources.

One more book that helps in getting the sense of Portuguese in a natural and fun way.

Good value for money - excellent for beginer

Interesting and relevant conversations

Conversations great for running with a partner, but contains mistakes which then get translated e.g. mestros instead of metros then gets translates as masters instead of metres. Potentially confusing.

I liked this book, was very helpful. The translation in English helped. And it was good to have dialogues for different situations.

The book is really well built! A lot of interesting dialogues.The only problem, but it's my fault, is that is written in Brazilian Portuguese. I haven't seem it was written, maybe it should be written immediately because the differences between PP and BP are not so little, and not everybody study BP.I study PP (Português do Portugal) and luckily I use the book with my Portuguese tutor so she changes the dialogues (some vocabulary, sentence structure) in order to transform them in conversational dialogues of Portugal. For everybody who learn PP I say that the book might be really useful if you are followed by a portuguese teacher. Otherwise you are influenced by brazilian portuguese.
